I ordered my laptop on HIDevolution and was absolutely floored by the level of customer service Donald provided me.

What's most surprising is the fact that I just got off the phone with him, because he called me to figure out how he could save me some money on this order. That would have been the last thing I would have guessed he wanted to talk about!

Thank you to this forum for recommending HIDevolution and thank you Donald!

Can't wait for it to arrive!

@Phoenix , Donald spoke very highly of your ability to optimize Windows.

I hope I might be able to get your help and advice after my laptop arrives!

Well, this is really similar to the order I'm submitting for HID in the next day or so. Great to hear such positive feedback on HID/Donald!

truly a great system you ordered :) my past experience with HID / Donald was very pleasant also, he was quite helpful. with all the excellent options & services they offer, really wish that HID offered the Sharp 4k IGZO gloss panels for the Clevo P650 models they carry, they would gain a fair amount of additional customers. good luck with your beautiful new custom rig !

How is yours different? If you don't mind me asking.

Thank you! I would've gone for the 4K screen but I prefer the higher refresh rate.

pretty similar on the main components with these exceptions:
    • 30 days dead pixel warranty - I guess I'm hoping for a solid burn in for 30 days to identify if any pixels flake out on me... gambling nothing happens afterwards
    • 32GB RAM - I tend to multi-task and switch back and forth between windows quite a bit, and I will use this as my primary development machine as well. That said, 32GB might be overkill for my usage, but still think I should have it :)
    • Samsung 960 250GB Slot 1 - Love the fast speeds of the EVO 960. Will upgrade or buy additional SSDs for Slots 2 and 3 for additional space when needed
    • 1TB SATA - Don't see myself storing a lot of files on this machine, mostly using cloud storage for pics, music, etc. 1 TB SATA should be fine for non-app storage
    • Intel Wireless-AC 8265 - Killer vs Intel, not sure this will really make a difference, but used Intel for the last few machines which has worked out for me, no issues
    • 1 year warranty - Although I'm rethinking this, but I'm also pretty handy with a screwdriver.

Basically trying to keep the initial cost down to avoid angry wife syndrome, with smaller "under-the-radar" purchases later. The 32GB of memory upgrade might eventually fall into that camp..

17" 1440p 120hz is pretty good. I could use that without scaling. Does that panel have good color accuracy for photo and video work?

Yeah, his guide on setting up windows is pretty good and he's got his stuff down pat. I don't delete as much as him, but he does know how to give you a clean, crap-free install, that's for sure.
