I thought I'd share my story with my latest laptop, a Clevo P150SM (Sager NP8265) originally sold by Malibal. I should mention this is not my first Sager, I had two NP8130s, one NP8150 and now the NP8265.

So I purchased a Malibal P150SM from craigslist while visiting San Diego about two weeks ago. The seller advertised it as mint condition, fully working, still under warranty. As I soon found out, only the latter was true. Once I returned to Canada, I decided to do a clean Windows 7 install on my own SSD. The webcam was not functioning although I was using the correct drivers. Pressing Fn+F10 did nothing, the Bison Cap was reporting no webcam. After hours of trying several drivers, I took the bezel off the screen and saw that the wire was physically disconnected. After reconnecting the wire, the webcam would get detected, Fn+F10 would work. However the video stream would crash within a second, and afterwards Windows would report a malfunctioning unknown USB device.

I also found that the previous owner had taken the bezel off, lost a couple of screws, broke a couple of screws and left a few screws loose. And he cracked the bezel.

After I contacted Malibal, they verified the laptop is still under warranty and promptly shipped me a replacement webcam and wire. I also ordered a replacement bezel. Now the webcam they sent me proved to be incorrect, although it was one of those listed in the Clevo service manual. Roughly twenty emails later, we finally figured it out. It turns out the official Clevo manual for my P150SM does NOT list the correct webcam for the laptop on which I am typing this message. They actually took apart one of their P150SMs, and sent me that webcam and wire. Aaaand it works!!!

So there you have it. Malibal helped me fix the issues caused by an incompetent owner, an incompetent manufacturer, and stood by a product they sold. That's a great experience in my book. I highly recommend them.
