This thread is designed to share experiences with the German based Clevo reseller, Notebookguru, as there is very little information about them online. It will seem however that it is in fact a warning for all those who may inadvertantly make the monumentally bad decision of ordering a laptop from them. There may be some satisfied customers out there somewhere in the known universe but from what i have read and experienced they are the few and far between.
My experience with them has not finished yet (ie i still have not recieved my laptop) so perhaps it is not fair to condemn every aspect of the company as yet...but life isnt fair so i will do so anyway. Like many before me i was suckered in with their flashy website and reletively low prices(for europe). I ordered a GURU Fire SB on the 20th of august, payment was settled on the 24th. I recieved reply after 3 days of emailing him, stating that my laptop would be shipped on monday the 29th. Like an idiot i thought "GREAT, i should have my laptop by the end of that week". How wrong i was. Without any notification on the monday, i emailed him (owner/sole operator Michael Seiler) to ask if it had been shipped. no response, emailed again on thursday, no response. The phone number he sent me did not exist, found another phone number online...no response. At this point i am wondering if this is a real company or if it was just a theif with a website. So i started researching this company and found very mixed reviews, people with similar stories as my own experience. Tales of woe that rival that of war time sorrow, dashed expectations, and unrequited emails.
Finally i was so furious with this guy that i emailed him on monday the 6th saying that if could not communicate with me then i will have to cancel the order. An hour or so later i recieved an email back saying that he was sorry for the delay and that it would be shipped tomorrow(7th). I recieved another email that day saying my status had changed to "In Production" which tells me that for the previous 11 days he had not even started building it.....PERFECT!!!!!! As of today(8th sept) i have emailed him saying that if he cannot provide tracking codes and a detailed explanation as to why he has lied to me twice, then i must cancel the order. Where it goes from here no body knows. Maybe the laptop will arrive within the next 6-8 years and it will perfect, or maybe he is just a 12 yr old boy counting his money and playing world of warcraft while he ignores a stream of emails from angry customers.
Either way, if you are reading this...YOU ARE THE RESISTENCE!!! hehe

I don´t know why people still buy at him. If i would buy a 1000 notebook at a online-dealer I would have made online-investigation before.
summary:
if you want a cheap clevo with no service and many problems with eventually rma transaction, buy at notebookguru.
If you don´t like stress, don´t buy at notebookguru -
I think the service of notebookguru got worse in the last years. I bought my first Clevo (M860TU) from them and was very satisfied (so Im one of the fews in the universe). Due to CPU ES they had to change the CPU, a service which went very well and took only 4-5 days. So thats the only experience I have got.
A few weeks ago I wanted to purchase a P150HM and send them a question per e-mail. So far no reply. Other resellers answered within 2 hours, so the communication at guru appears to be their big weakness.
I would have bought there again, if they had answered my inquiry positively, since I had a good time with my first clevo. But as other mixed reviews suggest, it is better not to take the risk purchasing from them. -
I say DONT EVER NEVER BUY FROM THEM!!!! i have waited about 9 months for answer i had to contact clevos rma support and i said that i have videocard and motherboard problem so i sent it to rma and they just did bios reset and sent it back.. and now i am at email fight whit rma support becouse this michael dont answer on his EMAIL!!! i wont suggest it to anyone!!!

Just checking, does anyone know if their service has been improved since this was posted?

Don't EVER buy from them.
Here's my story:
I order a laptop with an ati 6990m, instead without any warning or notice i receive an nvidia, so i ask him what happened, and he says the 6990 didn't work (even though it was listed as an option in the site). Fine, i ask for a refund, he agrees, i send the laptop back, and after that moment i stop receiving answers to my emails, nor i get my money. After a while he sends me something (without ANY info on what it was) i refuse the package because i have no idea what's in it and what the hell? he agreed to refund me, but still to this day i haven't seen my money, nor i could contact this Michael in any way, none of my many calls or emails were answered.
so if you have any suggestion on how to get my 1600euros back please don't hesitate to let me know!Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -

Welp, might as well add another voice to this.
Bought a w870cu roughly two years ago from nbg (notebookguru). I wouldn't say that there were too many problems - I got the comp with all the parts I had ordered, and there wasn't any large trouble with payment processing (even though it was a bank transfer that could easily have been "lost"). So that's that.
HOWEVER. During that, I was practically the only active party involved in the communication. From the seller I only got the automated invoice-form thingies.. I honestly don't know if any human being even read the actual e-mails I sent. I know, yes, alarm bells and everything (I was just stupid back then and apparently somewhat lucky).
Roughly half a year later or so, the laptop had, I guess, a fairly common problem - the battery inflated and didn't make contact. Idk if that's the reseller's fault or was it a design fault of the laptop model itself (I found a few posts detailing the battery inflation issue on here back then), but when I tried to contact nbg about replacement.. well, no response. Heck, I even offered to forget about the warranty and just plain buy a new battery straight-up. No response.
Went "screw it" and ordered one from mysn instead.. (By now, it has inflated too),
Had a few issues with wireless adapter (had to nuke the drivers and reinstall completely) and hard-drives (one failed after only a year of use, the other - exact same model - still goes strong with no bad sectors at all). Now, I think the motherboard has properly fried, as bios POST doesn't recognize any storage devices / attachments / adapters. I am not sure if that's a normal lifetime for a w870 clevo or not.. At any rate, not even thinking about trying to contact nbg by now, I'll just buy a new laptop from another retailer.
So, um, yes. In short, my experience with nbg has been this:
- practically no communication
- actual order/delivery/payment went through fine enough
- warranty turned out to be absolutely useless (unless you want to send the comp through post and hope for the best - and looking at other people's posts here, I am glad I didn't)
- possibly premature hardware failures
I don't know if I was mostly lucky or maybe it wasn't as bad back in 2010, but even from nearly 2-year-old experiences, I'd suggest staying away. -
What a terrible clevo reseller, their reputation has been really bad over the year, and I think people should avoid them, save yourself from headaches and all that, not worth it. Stick with Mysn.de.

how are they still in business though

I bought my p180hm from notebook guru nearly 2 years ago. Unfortunately (as detailed in another post) it started having suspected GPU issues and I contacted Michael about getting it looked at/repaired as it is still under the 2yr warranty.
Got a reply straight away stating yes here is the address will look at it. Sent it DHL was received nearly two weeks ago. Since then nothing. Ive sent emails no reply. Ive tried the telephone number which just cuts off dead after a few seconds.
As this is actually used for work and play then ive been stuck bashing my head against the desk everytime im asked for something which is on the hard discs I removed from the laptop before sending.
My last email sent yesterday outlined that if I do not hear anything by this Monday then I will file a claim for the full amount paid for the laptop with the European justice small claims court.
https://e-justice.europa.eu/content_small_claims-42-en.do
As yet no reply. The whole process will take a few months to complete but im pretty confident that this will be resolved in my favour one way or another.
Considering my work ive now purchased a new p170sm from Utopia Computers which Ill get next week. -
He has now blocked my email which I take as confirmation that he intends to steal my laptop be it for parts or to repair and resell.
I have contacted the domain hosting provider and will make all attempts to get his website taken offline until the matter is resolved. -
Well I got notified last night of the impending return of my laptop. I have no idea if the warranty has been fulfilled and the issues fixed as Mr Seiler wont reply by email.
I fortunately still had Mr seilers bank details so that combined with the impending EU court action he really had no option but to comply with the return of my property. If it has not been fixed then I shall proceed with claiming back the cost of the repair and cost to send him the laptop.
Victory is however mine. Didnt have any luck in taking down his website as the UK police will not issue a crime number to give to the German webhost.which was disappointing. Apparently its not theft for someone to take your goods and not return them! -
