I'm in the market for a new notebook, due to a new job and also for gaming (Diablo III and Guild Wars 2 upcoming). I decided to personally call five resellers today to get some quotes and find the best configuration for my dollars.

Some of the resellers (whom shall remain nameless) turned out to be a bad experience, and left a sour first impression upon me - be it they were a bit rude, humorless, and didn't come across as very personable and down-to-earth in idle banter.

The big exception was Donald, with PowerNotebooks. This was a very knowledgeable man with computer and notebook components, it was readily apparent within the first minute of talking to him. The big thing though, was that Donald was very personable, helpful, and was going out of his way to make sure that I'd get the most bang for my buck. It really was a pleasure talking to him, and about hardware in general.

I just want to say, keep doing what you're doing Donald (and PowerNotebooks). Not only did you offer me the best price based upon my needs, but the entire process of questions and answers was excellent - as if I was talking to a friend. It's the little things in life that matter most to me, which also applies when shopping around.

PowerNotebooks, and more precisely Donald himself, earned a sale. Thanks, Donald! I will update this thread after purchasing from them tomorrow and getting my notebook.

It would be helpful to other to elaborate about the 'nameless'. One thing about Donald, he and his staff are even better after the sale! I narrowed down a RAM issue I was having (that ASUS wanted me to RMA my notebook for) and he quickly took care of my issue avoiding that potential quagmire.

I'd rather not name drop, especially when it has negative connotations attached. Besides which, my experience and someone else's could be vastly different depending on various factors (who you talked with, time of the day, et cetera).

I mainly just wanted to pass along my initial first impression in talking with a few resellers, and that I came away the most positive from Donald and PowerNotebooks.

    Thanks.

Congratulations, I live the idea of not namedropping, I'll give you that.

I congratulate you with your talk with Donald, PowerNotebooks are very friendly indeed and it's always nice to know that there is a nice person handling your laptop, makes the whole experience worth it.

    Yes, that's exactly it.

I ordered the notebook in my signature last night and will update this thread once I receive the package. Hopefully, the end product will be great as well.

My new notebook has performed flawlessly so far (knock on wood). I was very impressed with the packaging and timely arrival (I asked for a rush build). All in all, it was a wonderful experience and the notebook arrived in pristine condition and has worked beautifully.

    Thanks, Donald!

Very helpful. Was thinking of buying my first customised laptop from them as well.

Just a quick question. Does anybody have experience purchasing from powernotebooks.com using the wester union money transfer? what are your thoughts? Would you suggest it or should i keep away from western union money transfers (because its a huge amount of money)? Im going to purchase the laptop from abroad and would still like to avail of the cash discount. They are the only resellers that I've seen that accepts western union. I dont feel comfortable sending checks and since western union transfer is instant, its much faster.

There is nothing wrong with Western Union so long as you know for a fact where you're sending the money is legit.
