I bought a laptop last year from xotic pc and it was a sager np2740 laptop. At first it was great and very fast. I bought this laptop because its very fast and because its light and smaller. Things were great with laptop then i had issue where the battery no longer worked after a few months. It has the replace the battery issue with the red X. Also the sound seems to be a lot lower than usual as well.
I'm also out of the country so its hard to just send the laptop back to xoticpc and have it sent back to me. However i like to know for those of you who purchased from xoticpc and had to return a laptop and get something fixed... how long is the actual time the day you sent the laptop back till the day you received it. For me my biggest issue is the battery since i have to have it plugged all the time... laptop goes out pretty much immediately the moment i unplug the charger. The sound issue is also frustrating since it suddenly has a weak sound as well. This is around the time my battery no longer worked so I was wondering if there could have been a coincidence?
My other issue is the battery isn't easy to take out. There are about 15 screws to unscrew on the bottom of this laptop if i want to take out the battery. My old asus laptop and most dell laptops are simple in that you can just pull the battery in and out very easy. Thus i cannot do this myself to take out the battery. However I'm curious could my battery be misplaced which is why my battery shows the red x? Or that is not possible? Of course the battery never was taken out since i never took it out.
But i'm curious how long is the actual process to return a sager laptop and get it back. Do i send it to xoticpc then they send it to sager or do i send it directly to xoticpc? I assume im sending it directly to sager? Then sager sends it directly back to me? If so, im assuming it takes 3-4 days for the laptop to reach sager. Then they probably take 3 days or so replacing the battery and possible the sound issue... then send it back to me. So most likely i would be able to get the laptop back within 2 weeks? Or it could be as fast as 10 days? I was thinking this might 3 weeks even? And also... to anyone that sent a laptop back to xoticpc... did they reset your computer assuming your issue isn't the system and it was the battery or the sound issue? Reason i ask is because i don't want to be without a computer for a very long time so curious how long this whole process is.
I was told it would cost $180 plus S and H to have a new battery shipped to me from xoticpc assuming i buy a new battery after the warranty period which will expire soon. But of course if i send it to them before warranty period, there isn't cost but my warranty expires really soon.

Also is basically the only way to get a replacement battery after the warranty period from sager? I cannot seem to find the np2740 laptop battery anywhere when i googled it.

If you are shipping it back for a repair, the time frame always depends on the situation. Obviously you have the shipping time as mentioned. But if it is just a simple part swap, like a battery, then it might not take long at all to change that out, test it and send it back. But if it requires testing and diagnostics to figure it out, then it would be longer. But if you are working with one of our service team members, they should be able to give you an idea on the time frame. If anybody here wants to post some info on how long theirs took, by all means, that is welcome to help out.
You might be able to check the battery and just make sure the cable connection is securely seated. It isn't common, but those internal battery cables can come loose, then the battery wouldn't show. It isn't easy to find one of those batteries online, because they are pretty unique and also because they aren't just the battery type that pops out easily. Found this online, hopefully it might help to give you an idea of what it takes to change a battery.

If a computer is sent to us or to Sager, generally your computer won't get reset, without us asking you about it first. I would still recommend backing everything up before you send it in. But if they are wiping your computer, usually we should be notifying you first. If you need to send it to Sager, normally it would be sent directly to their facility and not to us. Then from them back to you directly. We would just help set that up.

Well the thing is I never took the battery out because its very compllicated to take it out. However, if it was loose... wouldn't there be no battery at all instead of the consider replacing your battery?
Hi. Yes i like to get feedback from others who have returned a sager back. Such as how long process took. In general in cases like this, does the computer get back sent to xoticpc or sager? -
When it comes to warranty times, it really depends on if they have the parts on hand and what the issue is. I have seen an RMA for a screen that took less than a week but if they replace the battery and find that it is something else entirely, you could be waiting awhile because they will troubleshoot it until they figure it out. For example, I had an issue that required them to have my computer for a month. That's far from the norm though. -
Well the thing is my laptop battery can't be taken out as it has about 12 screws that one has to unscrew before doing so. In this case, do you think there is a chance the my battery could be possibly loose? It isn't like those batteries where you could take it out and put it back in. I was surprised with this when i first bought the laptop.
So the shortest time assuming its the battery, the moment i ship laptop to them... till i receive it back... im assuming at best 10 days? Since if i ship it to them, it would take 3-4 days. Then let say they fix the issue in just 2 days... then it would take another 3-4 days to ship it back to me... would that be correct? -
Clevo machines are built to be easy to self service. There might be a lot of screws but once they're out, its generally cake from there.
As for the shipping, you mentioned you are out of the country. What country? Shipping time will definitely be affected by that. -

It might not be that the battery itself is loose, just the connector on it. It is a cable that comes off of the battery and plugs on to the motherboard that you would be looking at. If you want to, just check to see if that is loose and make sure it is properly seated in there. Like I said, it isn't a common thing where that happens, but connections inside a laptop can be an issue sometimes. If you feel comfortable with it, you can check it. Might be worth just doing that, if a few minutes of work can save you time to send it in.

In order to do this, I still need to remove those 19 screws correct? Would you say best solution is go to computer repair place and have them do it? Would you say its necessary i print out that page you posted that shows how to take the battery out? Or would most computer repair places be able to do this without needing that manual you put the link out.
Also do you know how much money i should be paying for this be done at a computer repair shop? I'm pretty sure most shops don't have people coming and needing to have their battery removed since majority of batteries can easily be taken out by just pulling it out.
Because if the person opens my laptop battery out, would he be able to see okay the connector is the reason why your battery is loose and thats the reason why the battery has the replace battery? Also is it completely necessary for the screws to be put back together before the person turns on my sager laptop? Reason i ask is because they could do a bit of trial and error to see if its the connector thats the reason why i get this message?

Yeah, you would need to remove those screws and remove the bottom panel. Printing off that page might be a good idea. Or you could find a repair place to see if they can check it, though it wouldn't be covered under warranty if you take it somewhere else basically. You might have to pay them any kind of fees. Maybe call a couple places and ask them how much it might take to just check that. hopefully it shouldn't be that much if it only takes a few minutes to open and check the connection.
Once you take off the panel, there are a few screws that hold in that battery. Though I don't think that would cause the issue itself. The connection for the battery is a cable coming off of the batteyr, and not a connection point on the battery that fits on to the motherboard. There is one cable coming off of the battery, and it should be simple to just see if it is a tight fit,or if it is loose and wiggles.
I think if the battery was the issue itself, then it would have gradually declined in performance and how long it would last. If it suddenly stopped working, that is why I think it might be just the connection. At least checking that cable would be worth it to either fix it, or at least eliminate an option for what might be the issue at hand. -
Someone a while back had said i could do an energy report by checking cmd and typing something. I still have that energy report from a while back. Would that show if the issue is indeed the battery itself vs whether the battery is loose or cable is loose?

It's worth comparing. if it shows the battery, and shows an amount of wear on it, then that might tell you if the battery is just going bad.

About the laptop battery. Back few months ago it just suddenly had the red x on the battery icon on the bottom right. I only had the laptop for a few months and i know batteries are not suppose to go bad that quickly. But ever since the day my laptop had the red X, well i always had to have laptop fully plugged in., -

Ok, so it does look like it is detected, so it looks like it probably isn't a loose connection. I was thinking if it was completely disconnected it might not show a battery at all. It shows the capacity is at 40% of what it should be, so at that point, I would recommend reaching out to our service team to see about getting a replacement and what the options are.

okay thank you. But based on that, would you say its not even worth it to go to a computer repair shop and have them open laptop up and then see if the battery is a bit loose or something like that?
Also if a computer repair shop opens my up sager laptop the battery, that means my laptop is no longer under warranty once it has been opened? -

I don't think that might necessarily be the issue. I was thinking it was maybe disconnected completely, but it looks like it is connected, and not able to charge to a full capacity. You could still have someone check it, but I don't think it might quite an easy fix like I was hoping. Contact our service guys and see if they think the same way as I do though.
It does not void the warranty to open the case and check things like that, or to do upgrades of things like ram, hard drives, etc... as long as you don't damage the computer while doing so. It is fine to open it though. -
okay i will contact the support issue on this. But if the computer repair person says okay thats how the battery should be fit... then the battery is thus 100 percent no good?

I would talk with our support guys and see if they can think of anything else causing that, just so you might not have to take it to someone local if they don't think that is necessarily the issue.

Try to respond within 1 business day as much as possible, 2 at most. If you don't get contact from them, just send me a PM and I'll check in to it. Also, it doesn't hurt to check your spam or junk box in your mail in case they do send one, and it ends up in there.
