I have 2 at home so make that 8 in total
I find that one is not enough for a single application to cover the heat sink + CPU, you need at least 1.5 tubes per application

This time I used the cheaper Grizzly Condutonaut. Worked very well. No need to put on more than necessary (one syringe is enough). But I have two in reserve
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
yeah 1 tube of LCU is enough for the CPU easily, the problem is, what's remaining, isn't enough to cover the entire area on the heatsink that is supposed to sit on the CPU. -
Depends on how much you put on. One is enough. At least for me.TomJGX, hmscott and Spartan@HIDevolution like this.

Upgrade package from HIDevolution arrived today. Very neatly packaged and protected.
Memory running @ 2800 MHz by simple setting the XMP profile to XMP Profile 1 in the BIOS (benchmark below)
CPU running @ 4.5 GHz on all cores using stock voltage, time for some tweaking:

Very nice. What are the temps on the overclocked CPU?

Had a RAID 0 system crash which corrupted my data , I'll let you know tomorrow -
Do you have a benchmark run result from the stock 2133mhz memory to compare, please post
-
Very nice memory bench. How high is the total price of your X9E beasts become now with all the upgrades? + $ 5500 or lower than this?

About $7000 USD
$6000 USD for the machine and another $1000 USD for the silicon lottery CPU + 64GB 2800 MHz RAMhmscott likes this. -

First overclock @ 4.4 GHz with a -60 mV Undervolt. Temps max at 80C in AIDA64 Extreme which means in gaming they should be around 60C
With my previous CPU with an even higher undervolt, the temps would reach 95C within 60 seconds of the stress test:

nope, but someone with 2133 MHz memory can run the benchmark for us to comparehmscott likes this. -

Pssst..

nice core throttling, that's the first thing I saw
-
Hunh.. What where? I have C States on with SPEED STEP. so the minimum is from before the stress test was started. Under load it's constantly at 4.5Ghz.
I hate to keep it constantly at full frequency.
I'm gonna repaste the CPU AND GPU tomorrow with GC exteme tomorrow. So thermals should drop even more.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

hmm, even with C States on, when I am on the high performance plan, all cores are steady 4.4 GHz -
Ahh well that's because my Ring Min OC value is at 30.
Keep things cool. Temps usually fall down to low 30's when doing normal stuff.Prema and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

right, my ring / cores are running 4.4 GHz at all times.

indeed bro, seriously I feel like this is another laptop, everything juts flashes infront of me like when loading programs, installing stuff, etc.
This Silicon Lottery CPU / 2800 MHz RAM were worth it! Mind you, I live in Dubai and the room temp is 26Chmscott likes this. -
A lot of money, but you get what you pay for
. What do you think you can get for your previous ram chips when you sell these?
I paid $ 3750 USD for my BGA KILLER setup at home. Norway is very cheap on electronics (complete pc/laptop and also free 5 years warranty). But spare parts and ordinary hardware such as Psu/Ram/Cpu/Graphics card and the like are very expensive here

No idea, and I don't think anyone would be interested in them to be honest. They are brand new almost but usually people who wanna upgrade RAM want faster and better. Maybe if someone is ok with 2133 MHz 64GB to increase his RAM. They will not overclock to even 2400 Mhz. stable. -
If you asked me a week back I would have bought it from you lol. Had a friend coming from Dubai.
Now I am getting a 2800mhz 32 GB kit from someone here locally.Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -
BTW my stock 2133mhz memory , I think it's SK Hynix , is running perfectly stable at 2400mhz CL15

Where did you get the ripjaws Ram from? dont see them in hidevolution.

Me, before watching this video : "Screen changing is always complicated and risky"
Me, after watching this video : " Screen changing this easy is almost cheating, like using a shortcut or something"
If any of you have ever tried changing a display for a laptop, it is a tedious, complicated, and painful experience with most laptops out there. This is so amazingly simple!
Also, about RAM, if 2800 is stable, it will be faster than it's 2133 counterpart, because both work at CL15 latency, so using 2800 should mean a net improvement in it's speed. Now, if only it were stable.
This thread made me even more optimistic about the laptop and working with HID, as I might want to upgrade later, and might need to use upgrade kits.
About the quality of 4K panels, it is true that most game will not run on ultra at 4K, but running them at FHD on a 4K display will still have those better colors of the 4K display. -
Changing to a 4K panel isnt this easy, you need to reach the insides of the motherboard, since the whole cable needs to be replaced with a 40Pin EDP one. The default i think is a 30 Pin cable which is good enough for FHD displays.
Ill be changing mine to 4K, mid April keep an eye out for the thread.Georgel likes this. -
That is great to know. I seriously don't think of getting FHD screen at all, but thought that if I ever need to replace the 4K one, it is very simple, and does not take much.
I heard before about the internal cable not being compatible, so I guess that for people who ordered FHD and want 4K, it will be a bit longer road.
What got me thinking is if the hinges are replaceable, or if you can tighten them so that display will be more stable? -
Check this thread out by @Akaraah
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...p870dm-g-from-fhd-to-4k-picture-guide.787821/
He has a comprehensive picture guide on how to change to a 4K panel.
Im guessing the hinges are replaceable but, may need more tweaking \ dismantling. I haven't tried it myself yet, so cant really say how hard it would be.
Yeah its somewhat of a bummer about the cable, my only guess is that the 40Pin cable isn't compatible with the FHD? Sure these cables are more expensive, but if they are present by default and are compatible with all the displays for the P870DM/-G, wont it be better to just add $50 to the cost and keep the customer future proof?Last edited: Mar 20, 2016 -
I am not going to order the FHD one in this context. That looks like one of the most complicated, and stressful things to do, because there are so many tiny pieces that can break, not mention all those cables look very sensitive.
So, it is easy only if you change from FHD to new FHD and from 4K to new 4K. -
Yep

The G.Skill Ripjaws 3000 MHz DDR4 RAM will be released in the end of April.
HIDevolution told me that they contacted G.Skill and that's what they told them -
Naice! I might directly make the jump from 2400 to 3000.
I was wondering if anyone has tried to OC their 2666 or 2800 Kit to 3000+Mhz ? -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
I didn't and don't even know how -
Its pretty simple, if you have OC'd memory on a Desktop.
Like im running my 2133 CL15 RAM at 2400 CL14. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
like right now it is on XMP Profile 1 running @ 2800 MHz. Shall I just set it to custom profile then change the profile to 10 or 11?
which profile is for 3000 MHz anyway -
Prema might be able to answer that, if it was me, i would try to see what Profile 11 does to 2800 Mhz memory. FOR SCIENCE.
But you might need to reset your CMOS if it fails to post. -
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
I remember last time I tried profile 11 my system wouldn't boot and I had to do a CMOS reset.
I till try again tonight since I will repaste my GPU, then I'll have my system open anyway so it won't be a headache to reset CMOSbloodhawk likes this. -
Yes. I was able to boot with one stick. It would not boot with more than one above 2800. That may have been an issue with the HyperX Impact sticks themselves.
It will be interesting to find out if the G.SKILL modules will be bootable and run at 3000MHz.. -
I have only seen very limited results with the HyperX SODIMM modules. Some stock Samsung modules overclock even better at stock voltages.
@Prema did say, that the BIOS supports it, what im really interested in is how far can we take them past 3000
Lets see if i can get my hands on a kit once they are released.
