Greetings all.
This is my first time purchasing a laptop, and my first time using a reseller. I was recommended by friends to try XoticPC, and since the price of the select laptop was the same everywhere, I decided to give them a try. I purchased the NP8650 with only an SSD upgrade. Here's my experience so far.
I sent a few emails prior to the order, attempting to haggle down the price (unsuccessfully) and ask some questions, as I didn't fully understand how resellers worked. Derek S. from Xotic helped me out there, and over maybe 5 or so emails I decided to order from them.
2/5 10:30 a.m. - Order placed
2/5 1:00 p.m. - Phase 0 (order processing)
2/5 3:00 p.m. - Phase 1 (payment process, inventory gathering)
2/5 3:00 p.m. - I got an email from an Xotic PC order analyst notifying me that I purchased my computer without an OS. I did that on purpose, but I do like that they ask if you meant to do that just in case.
2/9 5:00 p.m. - Phase 2 (Sager Assembly, Build, Technical Analysis, Stress Testing & QA)
2/10 9:30 a.m. - Phase 7 (Packaged & Shipped)
2/13 1:00 p.m. - Laptop Received
Order to delivery in 8 days. Didn't do any Xotic upgrades, so it shipped straight from Sager to me. Installed Windows and I'm working on the drivers, so I should be up and running in no time.
2/14 - I've gotten the OS installed and almost all of my drivers up and running. The Sager site's video drivers didn't work at all, so I had to go grab them off Nvidia's website to get my video card to function. I also had an issue getting the Wifi card to work, and had to resort to Intel's website. The only thing not working at this point is the fingerprint scanner. I couldn't find the drivers anywhere, so I send in an email to Xotic's service department, and we'll see what happens from there.
