    @Eurocom Support @EurocomTechspert @Eurocom

So on November 24th, 2016 I ordered Eurocom's Sky MX5 R2 (their version of the p650rs-g or np8153-s) with the display calibration, 250gb Samsung nvme ssd, i7 6700HQ. Before ordering, I asked their customer service rep a ton of questions, such as what thermal paste they use, shipping info, etc. They were always willing to answer and quick to reply to my emails.

I received the laptop on Monday, November 28th 2016 and immediately got to work installing my extra hard drives (two more ssds - a crucial mx300 750gb and a samsung Evo 960gb) for extra storage. I then installed windows and all of the programs and games I use. I also noticed that they gave me the i7 6820HK instead of the 6700 so that was cool.

I undervolted to -150mV with throttle stop, installed CCC 0.50 and deleted the XTU for the fans.

The laptop shipped with BIOS version 1.05.05 and EC 1.05.03? (I think).

I noticed the temps at idle seemed quite high on the CPU; between 50-65 celsius. Cpu tests such as wPrime and AIDA64 Extreme both brought CPU temps up to 91-99 celsius which is way high.

I called Eurocom tech support and they recommended removing the bottom lid and reseating the heat sink to try and remove any air bubbles. That did not fix my overheating issue.

They then recommended I RMA it, so they sent me a UPS shipping label and it's now on its way back to their office. Luckily I live in the same province so it should be there by tomorrow.

They will try repasting, and if that doesn't work they will replace my machine or the heat sink for me and transfer everything over to a new chassis.

So far I'm very pleased with Eurocom. Their customer service has been awesome and they are paying for all of the shopping costs to send it to and from their office. Even though the laptop heating issue is an inconvenience, the fact that they've been so quick to help me out is fantastic IMO.

you now can install the latest CCC without XTU so it won't mess up your fan tables::

Edit the OEM.INI file in the Clevo Control Center driver's directory before you install it:

    Change SupportXTUFanTable=1 to SupportXTUFanTable=0

Yeah I did that with the version 0.50 that you posted in your software list. I never tried it with the latest version though, I suppose I will give it a shot once I get the laptop back.

yes do that because I noticed v.50 is kinda laggy on this laptop, like when you change power plans from CCC, it takes about 3 secs to switch and also it doesn't support changing the lid lights, only the new version does

Mine is already 0 for my P770ZM and still seems to mess with my fan tables, odd.

Try to set the fan profile to Automatic rather than Overclock

I left it on automatic, it still messed with the profiles. I reflashed EC several times, then I realized it's not worth caring about and I stopped caring.

Nah I did a lot of troubleshooting with Prema for a very long time and we couldn't come to a conclusion, just sharing my experiences. I'm not trying to step on anyone's shoes or hijack threads or anything. :)

TL;DR: I hate CCC. CCC had so much potential but Clevo are just messing around with it.

Is the display calibration something necessary? Like what does it consist of?

And how did it go with the new model? Are the temps back to normal?

The calibration consisted of a colour management profile. I can't really see a difference between the non-calibrated and calibrated profiles to be honest. The colours looks great either way so if I were to do it again I probably wouldn't get it.

I got the laptop back from eurocom about 4 days after sending it back. They repasted for me and temps are now sitting around 38-40 celsius at idle on the CPU and a mac of 75/80 under aida64 stress test. The GPU sits at about 44 at idle and 65 under load.

The laptop is great now, I'm super happy with it, however it's definitely a tinkerers machine. I strongly dislike CCC and only use it to turn off the keyboard lights since afaik there is no other way to turn it off.

For a laptop it's got great performance and it definitely outperforms my desktop. Next time I would probably go for a slightly cheaper laptop and build another desktop though simply because I don't actually game that much on the go and building desktops is super fun.

Now that the dust has settled a bit more how would you rate your laptop? I'm most likely going for an Eurocom X5 myself, because being in Montreal and a student it's definitively the choice of convenience. Any light bleed as some users have reported or do you have the TN panel?

Do you feel like you're missing something by not having a PREMA bios?

I'm still happy with it. I haven't had any problems since I got it back. I still don't like ccc but there's no other way to turn off the keyboard lights so I'm stuck with it.

I don't have any light bleed on my panel and everything looks good there!

I've never had a prema bios so I don't even know what I would be missing. I haven't overclocked the machine yet so maybe I'd see a difference if I were to do that? Either way, it isn't available for my computer yet afaik.

You got the TN display or LCD? How far can you adjust the fan speed?

Oh I got the 1080p LCD display I think.

The fans are either on automatic or maximum when I game.

Isn't there the possibility to manually adjust them using F1 from what I heard?

You either turn it on to maximum or set it to automatic using the function key shortcut. Since I'm stuck with ccc for the keyboard lights I just use that for fan control.
