Hello, how many slots for HDD/SSDs are there on the p170sm-a? The specs aren't entirely clear 1 slot for a regular SATA SSD/HDD and 1 msata slot for an msata ssd, or is there an extra slot that is taken up by the CD drive?

    2x SATA 2,5" +2x mSATA.
One mSATA is under 2,5" drive and second 2,5" drive is under CD drive.

This and as @t6nn_k mentioned you can turn the optical bay into a 2.5" bay using a converter (though it only runs at max SATA II speeds).

Hello, in the CD bay the CD drive attaches to a slot that my mSATA initially looks like it can fit but it doesn't seem to. Im not sure what that slot is. If I put the HDD into the bay underneath, the bracket that holds in the CD drive doesn't fit in anymore. The secondary bay seems to just have a regular HDD slot. And there is a dedicated mSata slot near the Vid card fan.

Download the manual and have a read through and get an overview of everything.
