    Hi all,

My laptop recently crashed not even while i'm playing any game sometime it crashed while i'm browsing sometimes the pictures already distorted while i'm booting. My questions are:

    1. Is this a sign that my gpu failing or are there any other reason behind this? I have already done clean installation of the windows, update to latest driver of the gpu also run windows RAM diagnostic(check for RAM and the result it's OK) but the problem still exist.

    2. If its really the GPU is it possible to change the gpu to the newer version lilke GeForce GTX970M?

    Thanks before.

check your component temperatures with HWInfo, it will tell you if anything is overheating (anything below 90C is safe for long term)

maybe you can fix this issue by cleaning out the dust in your heatsink fins and fans and also do a repaste with CPU and GPU :)

Sounds like a failing GPU to me if you're getting screen corruption while its booting.

You computer is old enough that if you have never opened it up to clean out the vents and fans that it could be shutting down to overheating. Even when not playing games. There could be enough blockage to cause high temps under regular use.

I did already open and clean it out the vents and fans and I dont thing overheat is the cause because sometimes it crashed just after I turn on the laptop. So is it possible to swap my gpu to the newer model? Is my mobo support that?

It's possible your GPU has been running so hot for so long that it just died, or some GPUs just randomly die.

well u cant pinpoint the issue unless u get urself some temperature numbers first :)

if those pan out, then u can check and stress all the components individually: cpu, gpu, ram, hdd, psu, battery...

You can upgrade only to gtx 680m legally or to ATI HD 7970m v1.2

Slight translation issue there, I think you mean officially rather than legally. Even unofficially they are the best you can fit as later cards have bios compatibility issues.
