have u tried flashing it in the p170hm using the autoexec.bat file? maybe the p570WM has trouble flashing the card...

Yes, at first I tried it with the autoexec.bat on the P170HM. Afterwards with the flash.bat. The same on the P570WM.

Could it be a Win 8.1 issue or UEFI (although I am sure that I've disabled it)? Any settings in BIOS maybe which prevents the booting/flashing procedure?

as long as the system recognizes the card and ure able to boot into the DOS environment u should be fine, at least in theory...

first time ive seen this error message!

u using the atiflash version provided in the OP or a different one?

I used the one provided in your Guide. Should I try an older or newer one? In the P150EM the card is recognized normally. :frown:

shouldnt be a win8.1 issue and UEFI cannot be enabled on the HM series anyways, even though (at least in theory) they should be capable of it...

to be honest, i really dont know how to tackle this! seems weird...

this is probably whats going on in my own laptop when i 'flash' it, i believe its getting puased on something like this, are there any commands to bypass? because i know its not actually running anything from looking at the usb.

the bat files in the OP already include the commands to bypass any compatibility check and force flash the respective .rom file...

from what u describe, ur machine either doesnt even reach the dos environment or u have an incompatible 7970M version in there...

I'll throw a different take on this.

Even though you think it maybe the v1.2G 7970m you installed, I think you have the v1.1G.

Nope! I have the 1.2 which is stated on the rear of the card AND it is working fine in a P150EM. But like KmkZ stated, if I try to flash it in the P170HM then the flashing process isn't simply starting at all. In all other Clevo's I tried I get the error message posted earlier.

Step 4 At the C:\ Prompt type, atiflash -ai 0 ,this will provide you with proof that your Video Card does infact exist

Step 5 At the C:\ Prompt type, atiflash -unlockrom 0 , i suggest you do this because some Bios files are infact locked and can't be flashed until unlocked

Step 6 At the C:\ Prompt type, atiflash -f -p 0 bios.rom , this is when your Bios is actually flashed

have you tried atiflash -unlockrom 0 in the prompt? Maybe this will help and may infact help me in the process =D

I already tried Step 4 and 5 and it told me that the card exists and vbios is unlocked but to no avail. When I tried flashing afterwards I got this error message posted earlier. I didn't checked Step 6....

BIOS P170HM_1.00.10 (and P170HM.1.00.14c -> tried this one too)
    EC P170HM_EC_09

I think this is actual enough, isn't it? ;)

Anyway: I gave up and sold the Card. Will try it with a GTX 680m, if I get one cheap enough....

Finally found out what caused all the Trouble:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/666401-online-petition-bios-updates-clevo-hm-model-series.html

It is the LG LCD Panel, it lacked the EDID Firmware....
But now the 7970m is sold and I have to give it a try with the 680m. Hopefully it will be plug'n'play with no super exotically issues at all!

Hello, i'm having a hard time blind flashing my 7970...
    I have a faulty 6970M on which I dry run the autoexec.bat.
For now it only plays a beep sound to make sure it is executed. And with the 6970M, it is.

When I put the 7970M in, and boot, it does not seem to boot on the USB stick (the LED is not flashing, the beep does not play)
    Am I missing something ?

Also during the boot, the computer seems to stop after 3sec (no fans no light for a second) then come back to life (fans and computer LED come back)

    Any ideas ?

I had a similar issue on my HM,

It's of not help to you but I ended up thinking the card was faulty but I had a EM series system avail to test and it worked fine

So I tried it back in the HM again and all of a sudden the blind flash worked fine

Strange really as I didn't do anything other than test it in another machine

Sure someone can be of more help than me

Nvm found it, b156hw01 v 4, is my screen. If im to fix this issue, since the problem is the edid of my screen, would i be writing (flashing?) An eeprom onto the gpu to recognize the lcd? I seem to be misunderstanding the process, if anyones able to clarify would be appreciated thanks

Hello guys, I have a MSI GX780, I bought a video card amd 7970M dismantled by Alienware M17X, I did update the vbios using one of SV17 which has the following version 015,017,000,001 unfortunately reassembling the data continues to give me black screen what can I do?

    thanks

    Thanks for your vbios.
I have a clevo 8970m with 4G GDDR5 and I've installed it on my W860CU. Now my laptop boots up with black screen and I think it's the vbios' problem.
I'd like to know the way to edit the vbios, forcing 8970m to skip IGP check.
Could you teach me how to mod a vbios or give me a download link of the mod tool which can let 8970m circumvent the IGP check? Thanks a lot!

First of all I'd like to show my appreciation for the great work you guys put up here.

Now, my 6970M died the other day (after over 4 years of joy) and I'm planning on replacing it with a 7970M now. I've read through the OP and comments and I found that I can buy a v1.2 Clevo board off CEG hardcore custom website.

Now the issue is, board price is about $358 excluding taxes but then since they're based in Germany you gotta add 19% VAT to that apparently and then there's another $80 in shipping in handling so I'm looking at $505 grand total.

Does anyone know somewhere to buy that board in the US?

u can try us shops like rjtech, eurocom, mythlogic or search for a local clevo service center. not sure though if those cards are still in stock, since its been a while since they have been introduced...another option would be to get a used one off ebay, just make sure to determine the version of the card before u buy it :)

Hey, thanks dude I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I had actually looked at those websites and the only place I could find it was on Eurocom and still that was priced at $540. The ones on Ebay are Alienware boards, couldn't find a single Clevo one there when I looked for it (except refurbished).

Anyways, I've purchased the board from Germany and followed your procedure. You can add me to the list of successful blind flashers :) I'm getting about twice as much FPS on most modern games.

I'd be happy to pay you a beer if you were anywhere near me :p
