the modded vbios wont help u with higher overclocks, just give ur cpu more breathing room to reach the overclocks uve already appliedwhat cpu do u have?
-
Yes, I know. I have an 2960xm CPU.
Thanks for your attention and I hope you can send me the two bios. -
alrighty, just making sure. will check for the modded bios shortly and send it to you.

Dear jaybee,
Could You please send me the modified P170HM 70W_80W_32s BIOS? I have a P150HM and 2960xm.
E-mail is [email protected]
Thank You in advance -
Hi @jaybee83
I have a P150HM with 2920xm and crossflashed the stock P170HM BIOS.
But when I stressed my 2920xm. 1 core at 4.5Ghz , 4 cores were still at 3.0Ghz or less.
SO, could you please send me the modified BIOS of P170HM of the best performance version.
My Email is : [email protected] or [email protected]
Send to them both is better
Thank you very much. -
hey buddy, ill actually have to check and see if i still have those bios mods, since my trusty old P150HM gave up on me like a year ago
ill come back to you on this, stay tuned...
edit: well as it seems youre in luck my friend! i still have the files on my box accountill send u the links shortly, enjoy

Oh. Thank you very much jaybee.
I looked for the BIOS for months.
Thank you very much my friend. -
no worries, thats what were here for, after all
-
Hi jaybee83,
Could You please share the BIOS on my mailbox: [email protected]
Thanks a lot in advance. -
haha, here they come now
yup, will do
just beware: its best to test the lowest TDP mod first, check temps and then go on from there if u still have enough headroom to play with. otherwise ull risk roasting ur machine! -

Yes remember power consumption goes up exponentially as you start adding voltage so small changes can make large differences, move slowly as removing the cap will let the CPU run away.

jaybee83, hey, I'm new here, I'm having a similar issue with XTU, it feels dummy proof, and isn't spitting out the clocks I want when all threads are in use.
Do you have any advice?
This is my motherboard? - https://dl.dropbox.com/s/o8ahv7iaoal6zod/clevo.PNG
My bios is locked down, nothing I can change there, has anyone safely modded my board before? -
so wait, ure saying u set specific clocks in xtu but those clocks wont hold under stress? well youre then either temperature or tdp limited, thats all explained in the first two posts

hey jaybee83..
I also have a P150HM with the Core i7-2670QM.
Is there room to overclock that CPU with the P170HM bios?
I modified the cooling System with additional heatsinks on the current heatsinks, opened the backplate of my Laptop and the Laptop sits on a big Laptop board with additional fan so the heat will be no Problem.
I also wanted to upgrade the 6990M GPU to a 7970M or 980M but can't find any affordable (around 250Euros) GPU that suits to my Laptop. -
unfortunately, all mobile cpus in the sandy bridge series are multiplier locked (except for the XM models), so u wont be able to do anything with your 2670QM. the only option would be to up the bios encoded TDP values to give your cpu more room to stretch its legs boost clock wise, but only if it doesnt reach its max boost clocks already.
900M series is not compatible with HM laptops, ull have more luck with a 680M (unless that was just a typo)
-
Weren't you able to unlock the bclk or is this also not possible with that cpu?
Yes it was a typobut still with a pricing of about 600Euro at Eurocom for a several years old gpu I rather would by a new PC instead of that.
-
sure, hardware wise they are indeed the same, its just that the non-xm models are multiplier locked on a deep level, nothing u can do about that... as for bclk, its connected to everything else, such as pcie, usb, ram, etc so ull only get a few mhz at best out of it with a high risk of instabilities (until one of the system's cpu-independent components gives out on you)
yup, i understand your argumentation, unfortunately thats the way it is with mobile gpus: due to the non-universal compatibility, they dont lose value but stay pretty stable in price, since theres always demand and theyre getting rarer every day

so I guess it is not worth the effort/risk.
I already had a breakdown of my gpu and recovered it by heating it up in the oven and it actually came back to life. I guess though that this will not last very Long so I am already looking for a new Desktop System. -

You get 2-5% out of base clock tuning depending on the cpu and other parts.

Hey Jaybee! It's been a while haha!!!
Awesome thread! I'm eyeing this now that I'm aware that Prema may eventually release a custom BIOS to support Maxwell (Pascal if we are hopeful?) GPU's on our P1X0HM's! So... a 2960XM, top-of-the-line GPU, and a 240W PSU to mod are in my shopping list all of a sudden!!! xD
Thanks for this!Last edited: Dec 3, 2016TR2N likes this. -
I have heard that hes working on something like that, but I have no idea how far along he is with the HM mod! might still be a while, especially since hes busy with his new machine and getting the pascal mods ready.

Thanks Jaybee!jaybee83 likes this. -
in any case, its pretty sweet to still see users rockin' the good ol' P150HM. i literally loved that machine to death
