I had to send my Clevo to tech support because I had no idea what to do.

    Motherboard: P775DM3 (-G)
    Windows 10 Home 64 bit

I rue the day I wished to upgrade my RAM.
    1. I installed a new RAM: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01G26166W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    2. The laptop manufacturer (PCSpecialist) said a Corsair Vengeance would work
    3. I first mounted the new ram in addition to the old one, HyperX Impact 8Gb 2133 Mhz
    4. I removed the old RAM from the easy slot, and the "Memory Management" BSOD disappeared. The Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool, however, still showed "hardware errors".
    5. I then decided to update the GPU drivers because nVidia Geforce Experience recommended so.
    6. However, once I downloaded the installer, it stopped halfway: it removed the old driver but could not install the new one. Error shown was either "7-zip: CRC error" or "install drivers from unknown source", which of course it never showed before.
    7. I tried this a couple times, but it didn't help.
    8. I ran "SFC /scannow" with administrator privileged: it showed errors.
    9. Then I did the DISM.exe command "restorehealth" in order to fix corrupted files. That worked.
    10. I re-ran SFC but it could not complete.
    11. I rebooted in Safe Mode,
    12. I ran SFC in safe mode: couldn't complete either.
    13. I decided to run chkdsk.exe /r /f but, despite completing successfully, that didn't help.
    14. Since nothing worked, I thought that re-installing windows could help.
    15. So, after finishing windows reinstallation, I tried windows update.
    16. When trying to update the video card driver via Windows Update, it would lead to a BSOD: "kmode exception not handled".
    17. So I tried to reinstall with the nVidia installer - that didn't work either.
    18. I thought that perhaps the problem was with the archived windows files, so I decided to re-install windows from the recovery drive.
    19. I made the BIOS look for the USB first in boot order.
    20. However, even if I could start the process, the recovery drive didn't work: it stopped at 3%, basically making the laptop what it is now, an expensive paperweight which can't boot.
    21. I said "screw everything" and left it at a laptop repair center.
What else could I have done? Can a new RAM effectively f**k everything up?

Obviously this HAD to been within less than a month, exams... WHY, on WHY.

    I think I'll just get a Desktop/

    Hi,

    Just a couple of questions:
    1. Did you remove the battery first before plugging in the ram?
    2. Did you reset to default settings the bios configuration?

    1. Yes, the battery was removed
2; yes, clearing the cmos was one of the things I did.

Could it be that my laptop doesn't like that RAM? for godhelpme whatever reason?

Plug and play it should run at 2400Mhz. Have you tried putting your old ram back and removing the new one?

That's what IT did right now, as I am at work and can't operate with it. Apparently the old RAM allowed windows installation in full.
Are laptops that temperamental with RAMs?

I remembered having trouble with a 32GB kit, but it was a GSkill 3000Mhz one. It boots fine at 2400Mhz but once xmp is enabled, it can only accommodate one stick. If I put the other one, I got a black screen. I’ve tried all the ram slots too and the voltages up to 1.35V. In the end, I had to rma it.
You probably just got a bad sample. I settled for a 16GB GSkill 2800Mhz and it worked fine.

Please explain what "rma it" and "you got a bad sample" mean? Thank you.
    I'm returning it anyway.

I'm probably getting a HyperX Impact.

return merchandise authorization. means you got a bad unit (bad ram or bad laptop) and have to return it. tinker too much and you might damage other parts in the process, is not worth it. can also void your warranty.

corsair is probably not supported, your best bet is to get a g.skill ripjaws 2666mhz ram.

Manufacturer said it would work nicely. Idiots. I'm going to return the RAM and get either another Hyperx Impact or this other one you mention.

Aside from some off-brand stuff that I bought at Amazon many years ago, Corsair is the only brand of memory that ever gave me trouble out of the box both on desktop and notebook computers, Windows and Mac inclusive. The company makes great peripherals, but their RAM is junk. Stick with Kingston or G.Skill.

hyperx will work, and g.skill are what most resellers recommend because it perfectly worked with any laptop.

Agreed on this, corsair had some interesting products in the past but not so much now.

Solved. It WAS the Ram. Removed the old one, got an amazon refund and installed a Kingston. Ran SFC / SCANNOW and no issues found.
