I have used this laptop for nearly 2 years and I found it quite hot even the fan is working, so I decided to remove the dusts in the fan. I unscrewed the bottom part and the fans, then unsurprisingly found a large chunk of dust. I removed it using my hands and put everything back to where it was. After that the cpu kept peaking randomly even when I am just surfing the internet. Normally the cpu usage is about 2%, but it peaks to nearly 20% after the cleaning(the fan now keep spinning becuz of the cpu). Moreover, the fps while I am playing LoL dropped to 30 even with medium settings! Really appreciate if someone can solve this for me!

did you remove the copper heat pipes from the cpu/gpu?
if you did youve broken the thermal paste contact and it will need new thermal paste.

It does sound like maybe something got moved accidently. Check all the heatsink screws to make sure they are sitting tight.

Just re-applied the thermal paste on the gpu(I didnt move the sink on cpu), the fan problem is solved. thx a lot sir!
However the cpu usage is still peaking from 2-20%, could this be a software problem?

20% usage is odd. Have you installed any software programs recently that may be running in the background?

Yeah, background processes or scheduled windows tasks can cause spikes, infrequent ones are fine, but if it's all the time you can go into task manager and look for which applications are using the CPU (you can sort by CPU use).

Could be the IAStorDataSvc, if you're on version 11.5. Aside from the memory leak issue, there were other I/O problems found with it. They seem to have been fixed with version 11.6 update.
