    Hi,

So currently I have 2x 2GB 1066MHz inside, and I've read somewhere here (or on another forum) that m860tu was capable of 8GB.

So I've upgraded it (first I replaced 1 module with the 8GB CMSO8GX3M1A1600C11 I've bought, thinking maybe it could handle 10GB), but afterwards when powering on the machine it didn't even show me the POST screen. All I got was a black abyss.
So then I completely removed my old RAM and replaced it with 8GB, booted and had the same result.

Now, the first thing which came to mind was upgrading my BIOS, but since that's a rather extensive measure, I thought I'd ask people who are more knowledgeable than me.

    Core2Quad Q9000
    nVidia GTX 260m

    BIOS Revision: 1.02.16
    KBC/EX Firmware Revision: 1.00.12

    Thanks :)

    Only 2x 4GB, not 1x 8GB.

It could be the speed. Looks like you're trying 1600Mhz in there. While RAM usually will clock itself down your CPU/Mobo may not like it at all.
