    Hi guys,

I was about to order a NP9170 Sager laptop on Xoticpc when 1 of the advisor told me there were some big issues about enduro and the performances.

My question is : is it possible to take an inventory here of all of the current responses we have today to temporarily go through this issue ?

I know these fixes are NOT COMPLETE ones but are just "secondary" while waiting for AMD to release an official one that will exterminate the issue.

So far the solutions I know :

    1. Clevo personal Bios modification but which one ?
    2. A manipulation that consists of going IN the game then quit it.
    3. New 12.9 Beta drivers ? Do they run fine ?

I think it'll be clearer and helpul for the next new purchasers of this I7 3610/7970m combo... Trying to find solutions by reading 50 pages of each topic is kinda hard

If you guys could just help me giving me the last and updated solutions known, and I'll edit this first post in order to be cleaner.

    Thx a lot.

There are no solutions. Wait for the next driver that is coming very soon (rumors say next week). It will supposedly fix the Enduro issues.

Really ? I remembered some people talking about a mod bios unofficial that disable the enduro activation via the bios (Alienware and Msi mobo can do that).

Clevo lacks the cable that makes it possible to do with MSI and AW. Its a no go because of the lack of required hardware. If you were to disable Enduro on a Clevo, you would get no picture, since the image is always transferred via iGPU.

In the end it depends on what games and what mode you are planning to play.
I bought a P150EM with the 7970M and so far, even with the underutilization issue detected in some games, I have been able to play at max settings all games i have tried so far (witcher 2, skyrim, borderlands 2, crysis 2, NFS the run, DIABLO III, Starcraft 2).
The card works great, and even in the games were it is underused if you dont meassure the GPU % you wont notice much.
Of course it will be improved with the coming driver 12.10, but with 12.8 it works great for me.
I think multiplayer games like BF3 and crysis 2 in multiplayer are the games most affected (at least the more complaints), but still it runs.

so my advice is get the PC, play the games you can run fine until the drivers come out. And if you stumble across any problems with a specific game post here, some of them can be worked around tweaking the settings or ignoring things like "optimal detetction"(witcher and skyrim for ex dont detect the card in the auto rec's but you can set it ultra manually, adn it works great)

    IMHO.

Still, I would wait for the patch before pulling the trigger.

Yep thats what I am doing waiting on the issues to be sorted, the 680m is a tad too much for me to spend on. I could but I keep looking at the price tag and saying there is no way Id go through with it.

To put it simple, if you are buying any laptop with a Clevo build, there is no work around. The only solution is to wait for AMD to produce a driver fix. Clevo build cannot use the bypass fix like MSI and Alienware build.

I've been reading a thread from another forum. The fix is suppose to come out some time this month. Yes, month of October. When exactly? No one knows for sure. My advice is for you to wait until the driver fix comes out, then buy your laptop. There's a lot of talk about the fix (unofficially). However, there is another question you should ask. Can the Enduro issue be fixed? If you are buying a laptop now, you are taking a $2000 risk. Even if you are within your 30 day "spec upgrade", it's still a pain and hassle to ship the laptop back. You will be out of a computer for 2-3 weeks. FYI, it will cost you about $70 for round trip shipping. Sager will not pay for any shipping charges.

I understand that there are a lot of thread about this issue, and it's a pain. However, I will still suggest you to read thru the thread. You will be surprise how much you can learn, and suddenly, you are an expert in the Enduro issue :p

Anyway, do read the threads and that will help you make your decision. Personally, I will still suggest you to wait for a few weeks since the fix is suppose to come out. Good luck to you... Ka Plac
