Hey gang. I hope you can help me here. I am a long time user of Mac OS X and Linux. I haven't used Windows in a long long time. I received my MALIBAL Lotus P150HM last week and installed Windows Enterprise on it. Pretty nice and smooth on this monster machine. Today I got a Samsung 128gb SSD and promptly installed a Windows 7 on it. Even faster. I love it. But now, I am unable to boot into the 7 install on the old hdd, located in the Optical Drive Bay.
When booting from the second hdd using F7, I am greeted with the "Windows Boot Manager" screen. Info: "The boot selection screen failed because a required device is inaccessible". No big deal, I'll just boot from my Windows USB key and go to system repair and run "bootrec /fixmbr" and "bootrec /fixboot".
But when I do, I don't get the usual choice to select my OS when I go to repair my system. For reference, this is the screen I get:

So Question: Where can I find SATA controllers/drivers for the System Recovery to see my hard drives? I assume it has to do with the Intel chipset, but I am not sure. Thanks.
This isn't a big deal, since I will solely use my main install on the SSD. But I would like to know for future reference. Thank you for your time and any help you can offer.![]()

You shouldn't need chipset controllers to find the drive, especially if it works after you boot it up.
You said you were using a USB key, did you make sure you booted it up in a non USB 3.0 port? Those ports won't work in Windows setup. You should still be able to press cancel either way and pull up the command prompt from the recovery panel and CD: to the right drive to run /fixmbr.
Also, if you're just trying to get data off the drive, you can just copy paste it from inside your new install as well. -
I'm not concerned with the data on the other hard drive (the only thing I needed was the driver .iso to install the drivers). I just want to know why my Windows install isn't recognized in the System Recovery.
Yeah, my USB is in 2.0 slot (the solo one on the right).
The first thing I did was opened the command prompt and played with the bootrec commands. /scanos did find my install interestingly enough. And when I ran /fixmbr it appeared to work fine. But on reboot I got the same thing. the next thing I did was let the RE find and solve the issue for me. It prompted me to restart, and no go. The last thing I did was post here.
Thanks for your help however.
