I can use only slot #2 and 4 single channel, once I install the other 2 modules to slot #1 and 3, there is no boots. I'm using 4x16gb Kingston 2400. Those modules were working just fine before I removed them to test another RAM's, once I installed them back the problem happened. Now I'm using only 2x16GB single channel and I'm trying to find how to make it work again.

Any modules used in slot #2,4 is working one or both, any modules installed to slot #1 or 3 never boots.

I tried to reset the BIOS (Prema) many times with the same result. No OC nothing and everything in stock settings.

I'll really appreciate ff someone can tell what me how to fix this.
    Thank you in advance.

    Anyone?
Is this mean the MB has a problem? or BIOS issue? the same modules was working fine in the same laptop?!

You posted this when almost everyone is sleeping in America. Don't expect fast replies after midnight.
Also the TM1 thread may have been a better place to post, though I'm not sure.

Are you saying if you install ONE dimm in slot 1 or slot 3 it doesn't work?

Did you fully remove the power before doing this? Did you unplug the battery? You're not supposed to service a laptop with *any* sort of current going anywhere.

Did you try removing the CMOS battery completely and waiting?

Try Deoxit D5 on the non working RAM slots and see if that helps.
You may have shorted out something.

Also check the CPU for bent pins.

Thank you for your kind reply.

    Sorry it's a KM1.

    Yes

    Yes

I tried with the battery removed and installed, the same result.

Yes, I reset the BIOS with all known ways including removing the CMOS battery.

    I'll try this.

Maybe, how can I check that, the laptop with the other ram slots are working great passing all kind of stress testing.

I'll do check that if all other possible options will not fix the issue.

I just tried even flashed the modded TM1 BIOS to see if it will fix the problem, and the problem still the same. Only single channel slot #2,4 is working the others are not.

Deoxit D5 is probably the only way to fix this, besides a complete and full disassembly of the motherboard and reassembly.
If Deoxit D5 doesn't work, it's HIGHLY likely you shorted something, or there was some sort of defective trace on the motherboard. Failures like this are highly unlikely, but did you check the KM1 thread to see if a problem like this has been reported in the past? Because if this were more than just a one-off problem, someone else would have probably found it by now.

In desktop motherboards, bent CPU pins can stop some RAM from being detected but usually will not cause a failed POST. Laptop systems are FAR less robust and any little thing can stop a system from working and even Premamagic can't fix that. Even something silly like a disconnected fan cable, or a piece of ...spider goop on a MXM slot pin.

I did your recommendation checking the pins, I found one pin missing as the attached picture, very strang it seems this damag from one of the previous owners, not from me for sure.
But, with this missing pin the laptop was working just fine with all 4 modules installed.
What to say... this is the Clevo mysterious issues.

Would need to replace the CPU socket or mobo. That is in a really odd location, not really subject to damage and the other pins around it are fine. I bet that particular unit has had problems since the day it was built and probably shipped that way from the factory.

Is that one pin that important to replace the mobo? it was working fine with 4x16gb even with this pin missing.

If there is no problem with functionality, then just ignore it. But, look around to be sure the broken piece is not laying loose to possibly short another pin elsewhere in the socket. Sometimes not all pins are utilized (as clearly noted by the P870DM1/DM3/KM1 using 8700K) and if that one it not utilized then it is irrelevant.

Have you tried smaller modules, or increasing RAM voltage? Does it just refuse to boot?

Something had to change if it used to work fine. Perhaps it is the missing pin.

We're you able to find the missing piece that broke off? Maybe it is bridging other pins relating to RAM and keeping it from booting.

Sorry I have not read every post. I am using my phone and I hate using a smartphone for web browsing too much to look.

It just refuse to boot, I didn't change anything in the settings the timing and the voltage is at stock. If I install all 4 modules the system refuse to boot, if I use the slots #1 #3 the system refuse to boot, the system works only if I use the slots #2 #4 with or without the other 2 slots.

I would confirm the problem is the same using some different 4GB or 8GB modules if you have not already done so.

If the pin has been missing all along and the loose pin is not bridging/shorting other pins, then maybe something has gone haywire with the 16GB modules. If the problem is the same with different RAM then you know there is a hardware issue other than RAM modules.

I have 2x8GB G.Skill 3000 and it did the same problem, only works with the slots #2 #4, if I try to install them in the other slots, no boots even with the default profile.

The issue happened when I installed those 2x8GB @3000 modules, then when I switched back to the 64GB 4x16GB it refuse to boot. before it was working just fine.

    I just read this. sorry.
It almost seems as if installing those other sticks is what created the issue. Is that correct? If so, maybe there was an ESD event that damaged a resitor or capacitor or something like that since the problem is only with one memory channel not working.

Maybe @Khenglish or @Prema have some insight, but it seems like a hardware failure at some level.

Thanks, it seems that EVOC system has many issues, not expected from HID, not expected at all, few weeks ago I lost my gtx 1080, now I found that issue with the cpu socket, as Mr. Fox said it seems to be
But it just discovered now when I\m trying to use all 4 memory slots together.

    Yes maybe,

I got this laptop from a very trusted NBR member I doubt that he knows about the issue. and as Mr. Fox said, that missing pin is very difficult to be damaged by the user himself, everything around it is very clean, this is from the factory from day one. I sold this system to a friend for only 2 weeks, he return it to me when he found it heavy and can't be portable enough for him.

I was happy with this laptop until I lost my 1080 GPU and the warranty was expired, HID offered me only one option (by a new card with $0000+),
I got a used one from NBR member and everything was just fine, but when I tiered to utilize all 4 memory slots that issue appear. The only time that all 4 slots are working fine, after 4 hours efforts with many many restarts and BIOS reset, I thought it will be easy to make them working again, I shouldn't try to test thos 2x8GB @3000, the issue happen after that.

No, slot #1,3 Nothing work with them at default profile.
The laptop now is working great with slot #2,4 single channel passing all stress testing and gaming.

But if install 1 or 2 modules to the other slots ... no boots just keep training and restarting.

Sir @Meaker@Sager, I did your recommendation to use a lower speed and still the problem the same. I tried the 133 x 8,7 and the 100 x 11,10,9,8 all are working with the working slots, once I install any ram's to the non working slots, no boots. It seems it's a hardware issue as you said one memory controller is likely dead or disconnected, If I found any solution after trying another CPU or something else I'll update this thread.

Please if anyone still think about anything I can try I'll really appreciate his ideas.

Either the pins in the socket are not making contact, the memory slots are damaged (unlikely in this case given the symptoms) or one channel is dead on the CPU.

I had this issue a few months ago and it was junk in the socket. Gently brush the CPU pads and socket pins with a toothbrush and IPA in case you have a residue blocking contact. I recommend letting it air dry or blow dry it, since using any cloth no matter how gentle you are can easily snag and bend a socket pin.

lately I've seen a lot of P7xx and P8xx users losing their pascal cards.

to the issue at hand, sounds like a mobo issue. The missing pin is as far as I remember a ground pin, so it should not be the cause. Guess the only way to have 4 ram slots working is by purchasing a new board.

Thank you for kind reply, it seems new mobo is the only solution for now, but I'll just use it as is, it's working fine with 2x16 32GB single channel, I can do everything I want without any issues, except that I lost some performance without the dual channel option, almost I can't feel that much differences in gaming or my daily use.
I'll try to find another CPU to test if the problem will be solved, if so I'll update here.

Thanks for everyone, I really appreciate your kind support.

Does all 4 sticks bear the same serial name or model no. in the kit? See if your module name is HyperX[newer]: HX424S14IB (16GB module) It seems Intel blacklisted older HyperX and newer HyperX works dated mid 2017.

Maybe RAMMon or HWINFO or Thaiphoon burner can give more detailed info. I tried OEM Micon and it gave me random memory BSoD.
Oh my HyperX always use SK Hynix chip 80% of the the time.
I'll upload some docs I found at Intel NUC kit.

EDIT: I forgot to say, when I'm working on repasting the CPU for the 1st time, I found the CPU (Green board) is not straight, I found it in a slightly curved position from one of the corners, so I forced it to be straight as much as I can see by my fingers. I have no idea if this is related to this problem. I handled a lot of CPU's in my life, never saw any bent CPU before.
So the bad contact between the CPU and pins theory is possible, how can I make sure that the CPU IHS is in straight and all pins are contacted?

Yeah alright, this changes a couple of things. Before trying another CPU maybe try and look for the cause first, but all things considering, it's very possible that the bent CPU could be the root for this problem.
