what i noticed yesterday after downloading the hotkey utility: its actually version 8.0082, not 8.0071. also, it doesnt work on my HM machine with win8, when i click on the hotkey icon the control center starts minimized but cant actually get it to show up :p

i hope its different for the EM users ;) going back to my trusted old 3.3053 :D

    cheers

I too have a P170EM and at install end, the setup crashes with a .NET error, then the installer says that the instalation is complete and to proceed with the reboot.
After the reboot, a pop-up appears saying to install all the drivers and to do another reboot, and the app itself does not load.
    Happened to anybody else?

It is installed, both framework client and extended, version 4.0.30319.
Maybe I'll just wait for a new Hotkey version, it is not essential right now...

These drivers on Win 8 are not compatible with Windows 7:
    1. LAN driver
    2. Hotkey
    3. Fingerprint driver (it works, but stock driver on Windows 7 is better)

Honestly, I have no idea, I came home from work one day and tried to turn it on and it just won't.

The green light for power source was on as I always have my laptop plugged in and the orange light was on battery for charging, when I hit the power button, the orange light blinked green once and then it goes back to orange without turning the machine on.

I tried a CMOS reset, booting without memory, booting without battery, booting only battery, replaced power cords, new hdd/ssd, replaced battery, nothing worked, so ended up RMAing it, wouldn't RMA something unless I was really stumped.

    Thanks for asking jaybee =]

I have never heard of this issue before, that is why I thought I would leave it up to the reseller to try and figure out.

Though my seller won't be back from Christmas Holiday until end of January, so yeah... will post back what they find out.

I'm slight suspecting a power surge, but the power didn't go out when I was at work and it was a sunny day, so no lightning or storms or anything, it's a really weird breakdown.

sounds like a short somewhere on the mobo. ur reseller will probably just swap that out and see if the machine works then, no reason for them to try and figure it out and lose time and nerves over it :p

well that sux tho, hope thatll never happen to me! *fingers crossed*

The USB 3.0 Firmware won't install for me, it says "Controller not found". The driver installs just fine, though. Any help?

Another thing: My reseller offers Intel USB 3.0 drivers on his driver page, but these are Renesas drivers. Which does the P150EM use?

Shouldn't have got the IC Diamond factory install IMHO. When I opened up my NP9170 the stock thermal paste was very poorly applied. Too much of it and they used the spread method compared to pea/line.

I've added the Intel USB 3.0 Drivers under the Renesas ones.

Couldn't find any windows 8 drivers, but I believe the USB 3.0 drivers should come built in to the OS.

Added the latest nvidia whql driver version - 310.90

Sadly you are correct, there´s no official Intel USB3 drivers for Windows8, which is causing many problems with lots of users (i´m included).
You can always mod the drivers for Windows 7, it works way better then the stock crap in Windows8.

There's a new nvidia driver out: GeForce 310.90 Driver. Drivers | GeForce

It has a note regarding notebooks: "As part of the NVIDIA Notebook Driver Program, this is a reference driver that can be installed on supported NVIDIA notebook GPUs. However, please note that your notebook original equipment manufacturer (OEM) provides certified drivers for your specific notebook on their website. NVIDIA recommends that you check with your notebook OEM about recommended software updates for your notebook. OEMs may not provide technical support for issues that arise from the use of this driver."

Is it OK to use this driver with Clevo?

Thanks for pointing me to this topic, vuman619. How do I go about updating my graphic drivers (Sager NP9130, geforce gtx 670mx). Can I just download the geforce drivers here or do i need to update the intel 4000 drivers beforehand?

Both drivers work independently, but since the Intel HD4000 controls the output, it is recommended to install the intel ones first, though you should have no issue either way, I install Nvidia geforce drivers first, doesn't make any difference.

    Hi Doc
if HD4000 driver is loaded and working you dont need to update this each time as vuman stated as its independant. its only the nvidia drivers that everyone updates when new ones are released.
at first its best to stick with the official WHQL and once you are used to updating drivers you can then try the BETA release but sometimes these can cause issues as they have not been fully tested.

there are a couple of ways to update drivers. manually using safemode (walkthrough in my sig below) which a lot of people say is not needed now a days or the easier way of downloading latest driver to desktop - delete driver loaded in control panel add/remove programs - reboot - load new driver you saved to desktop - reboot and your done.

Would using the drivers here damage my laptop in any way (win 7 drivers)? I am a bit hesitant in using the drivers here because a Sager representative told me that using drivers that aren't from the Sager website would be ill advised.

Sager uses the same drivers, but they only update their website when the drivers have been extensively used by their laptops for an extended period of time. Resellers like to play it safe, so they go for the tried and true drivers, this leads to them updating their drivers a lot less often and you may wait longer to get the newer drivers. It's true the drivers from your reseller have been proved to be stable, but the newest drivers are developed by the OEM and usually fix most issues and also improve stability. The only time you have to consider whether to update or not is when it comes to BETA or ALPHA drivers; this means they are still in the testing phase.

Thanks for the link and info, the link is the same one as the Windows 7 one already in the OP, but thanks for pointing out that it also works with Windows 8 as well.

if you are hesitant about updating the graphics drivers then dont do it. as long as the ones you have loaded already by your OEM supplier work fine then you dont need to update them.
all it is are gamers are power hungry for the latest and greatest and if a newer graphics driver will give them some extra framerates in games then they update every time a new driver is released. some new drivers make things worse in a few games so they then revert back to the previous driver.

if your new to gaming laptops then i would suggest to download some temperature monitoring tools for free from my signature below. and if you think they are starting to rise over the next year then just post on here and the community will help.
as you have a nvidia card i would recommend downloading nvidia inspector and core temps.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Is anyone here experiencing issues with the geforce 310.90 driver? I was reading a thread at the nvidia forums and it looks like it isn't really stable.
