    Hello NBR users,

I recently bought a new card and installed it myself with some help of guides.
Now that the new card works fine and all, I'm not 100% sure about the temperatures.

    Tools used :
    • Anti static wrist band
    • ArtiClean Thermal surface purifier
    • ArtiClean Thermal material remover
    • IC Diamond 7 Carat Diamond thermal compound
    • Multipurpose Air Duster / Cleaner

Pictures had to be downsized from 3264 x 2448 to 1200 x 900. Otherwise file size was to big..

    Part 1 : Old Card
In 2011 my AMD 6970M started misbehaving, and I've sent it to RMA.
1,5 week later they emailed me that I broke the card with a horrible paste job and that my Silver thermal pasta conducted and broke the card.:

It evolved into a 3-4 months case of accusing and blah blah. The fact that I used IC Diamond 7 and them saying it's silver , and the fact that they kept saying new things made me suspicious.
I mean looking at the pictures both my GPU and CPU where horribly caked. Wouldn't my CPU break too then... well in the end I received a new CPU free of charge because I showed them it was performing bad.. and not because the paste.

I didn't want to pay €700,- for a new GPU back then and told them to sent it back and I would fix it myself. After a lot of testing I found out that the issues occured when it changed clock speeds.
2011 -> 2013 I've managed to use the card normally by forcing the clocks with Ati Tray Tools, preventing it from switching and crashing.

    Part Two : New Card
Since last month this no longer worked and I ordered a new card of eBay : http://www.ebay.nl/itm/141022004495?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_500wt_1156

Received it 2-3 days later and planned to put it in the right after receiving it.

    So I opened up my notebook;

Found out I missed a screw.. odd.. so went searching and found it stuck behind my fans... couldn't hurt anything from there but scary!

Duo restrictions of only 6 pictures per post. I'll continue down:

So after removing the GPU heatsinks this is what I found :

So I cleaned it up with artic clean etc... looked like this.
*Still had to clean the ram sinks*

Took out the CPU ones too and cleaned them up..

Took out the new card :

So once all where out and cleaned, including the heatsinks etc.. I went to place the new Video card.

Placed it in, added that stupid plastic cover.. was still sticky so thought might as well use it.
    Optimized-2013-07-29 23.51.07.jpg

So I pasted the GPU.. did it like 3-4 times and then removed it again to check how much it had spread... once i was satisfied ( little )...

Then did the CPU twice because I was not satisfied with the dot.. left a lot of space on upper and lower part

All this resulted in the following temperatures :

    Furmark

    Previous Card :

    This Card :

    GPU-Z:

I undervolted the card at 0.95v to reduce the temperatures.. but something odd is there.

GPU Teml # 2 is 10*C lower then the other two temperatures. Is this because the paste is not applied well ?

I'm seeing 93C max while running Furmark, thats a great number. You can also run something that would be more on par as to a game like 3D mark as see how you are.
