    1 big flat horizontal line across np8170 screen

    the line just came up suddenly today and i didnt do anything. is sending it back to sager tthe only way to fix it coz i need some other ways since theres no service in my region

    LCD repair v2.0

    (Hit "Fix my screen" and keep it running for some good amount of time)

    picture is fine.
    normally lots of lines would be a faulty or dying graphics card (pic below) and you can see one line running across like yours.
    how old is your graphics card and have you tried overclocking at all.
    hopefully someone else will be able to help better than me.

    its half a year old its gtx 485m and no i dont overclock it

    when i put the mouse pointer on the line the line is always above it

    just check this for me.
    press Fn + F2 keys to turn back lit lcd off and hold your computer upto a light and see if you can still see the line. it might take some time as your screen will be black.
    after you can press a key or use touchpad to turn the backlite on again.

    ye the line is still there n its changing color to try to adapt to the background image but it just fails

    in my experience lines on the screen such as in the picture you posted are an lcd failure.

    if theres no way to fix it im thinking of bringing it to a repair shop since sager is too far from where im thats hk even im still under warranty.

    I have a very similar line on my screen, except it's in the lower third and the latter part of it isn't as dead as yours.

    It's absolute failure, not a mere malfunctioning pixel issue.

    ok lol u mean a few hours i will do it later thanks. however i brought it to a repair shop n they told me its lcd failure and gonna repair it for 1900hk dollars thats around 200 something us dollars. if ur method doesnt work i need to send it to sager under warranty.
