What's the proper installation method for this? I'm not sure how it varies from regular driver installation.

Is this the much talked about Enduro 5.5 hotfix?

"AMD Catalyst Mobility 7970M performance for AMD Enduro™ Technology supported platforms has been substantially improved for DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 applications. An updated driver for 7970M users featuring AMD Enduro™ Technology with additional DirectX 9 performance improvements will be released soon." Hmm.

    (Emphasis mine.)

Probably a noob question, but how does OpenGL performance factor into all of this? I was hoping for a fix for my Minecraft low GPU utilization, but the 12.11 didn't fix anything.

I just tested on BF3, D3 and CSGO so far and I see gains across the board (all on the highest settings with vsync off) except for BF3. I still get around 20+ fps average in a medium sized map. While the gain in BF3 (with the highest settings) is almost non-existent, what I did notice was that it never dipped below 20+ where before it would go as low as 17 fps. That's a good sign. As for Enduro, meaning lowering the settings to see if the fps scales up along with the lower settings, I haven't testing it. I don't really care for that as I don't play competitively in BF3. I was just happy that fps improved on the three games I've tested so far.

We've had these drivers for a while.. (Pesky NDA's), yea once they go final with the DX9 fix. They will be pretty great. We are REALLY happy about the split drivers finally, so we can finally keep up with the Intel Graphics drivers which do have improvements all the time. We don't have to beg AMD to put together drivers for us. Ahhhhhhhh :)

Has anyone else found that Afterburner can OC still with these drivers, but unable to monitor? I can get FPS on the OSD in games, but no more utilization and speeds.

How do we install this? It was mentioned the drivers are split now. Does that mean we need to update the Intel driver separately? And what is the CAP download for?

lol, didnt even spot that :) nice catch

@DaCM no its stock voltage, I tryed to go 1065 and 3d mark crashed.

@arcticjoe I dont actually know how it worked this time. with the first driver that was taken down today it dind't work. After installing the propper one, I just tryed to disable unnoficialoverclcking, then enable it again and I could see the clock, bot I still cant monitor ussage and temperature. Hovever HWinfo can monitor ussage and also temperature. I found that even overclocked the gpu runs much coller, but cpu much hotter ..
Just had a 800 ticket round on caspian 64p bf3, overclocked to 1000/1450, and there was a massive bump. Maxed out with 4xaa, I had around 55 fps avarage, somethimes disp down to 35 in heavy explosions. Ussage also dropped but there were no significiant slowdowns. But cpu temperature was max 92 C ?? before it was around 80 max.

It installs ok directly over existing driver, but that seems to break overclocking. To get OCing working you have to uninstall AMD drivers via add remove bit in control panel, then driver sweeper, restart, install Intel driver again, restart and install AMD driver, restart. After that overclocking was working and games now look much more like a flagship mobile card should be displaying them. Very good driver, very decent improvement in BF3 and Batman, a moderate improvement in Crysis 2. Will try Arma 2 tomorrow.

The latest on the Intel site are 8.15.10.2761. But at the same time, I have 8.15.10.2712, which is only available on the Sager site, and the Intel site says that is the latest version when I do the driver wizard.

Same, I'm getting confused now. Arctic said you could install over them, so I am leaning towards doing that.

have u uninstalled the old driver first, including a run with driver sweeper (a.k.a. driver fusion) in safe mode, before installing the new driver?

btw, for anyone looking to overclock more comfortably than with msi afterburner:

    - make a shortcut for afterburner and start it with the command "-xcl"
    - restart your machine
    - you will notice an additional option "performance" in CCC, where u can now enable AMD overdrive

this way, u can also force idle clocks @300/150 core/mem for a cool machine whenever u dont need max powah ;)

very happy with this option, use it all the time now!

PS: every once in a while (not that often, but still happens), the overdrive option disappears from CCC. in that case, just double click on your modded afterburner shortcut and next time u reboot ur machine the option is back :)

    cheers

    Thanks for the afterburner tip

Are you using the Intel 15.26.12.64.2761 driver?

And jaybee83, you have an HM series laptop. That is a WHOLE different ballgame compared to the EM series. Why doesn't AMD provide installation instructions?

    1. How do I give rep? I've been so excited for this, I was refreshing the main clevo forum page every ten minutes, saw your post, and immediately downloaded beta 3 and the intel driver you posted to my thumb drive. Thank you for doing this! Unfortunately I've been at work all day. Should be leaving in a hour, which leads me to my next point.

    2. What really is the best way to unistall old, install new drivers? Unistall intel + amd drivers in safe mode, run driver cleaner and reboot? Then install intel drivers and amd drivers in safe mode and reboot? Sorry, just need to hear it from the true geeks. Jaybee83 also posted some good tips.

Yeah I don't think it works with these switchables. It may work with your HM though.

And also, has anyone been able to get Afterburner OSD to work properly with utilization and memory/gpu clocks? Or is it just me and I screwed up something?

hm, is that a fact or a presumption? i dont see why it shouldnt work, the amd drivers, including the CCC version are the same. same goes for msi afterburner :) cant hurt to try, right?

concerning the driver installation: this 12.11 beta is the first "split driver" from AMD, it means u dont need specially designed whole packages anymore that include both the intel and amd drivers in one package. thus, whenever u update a driver, just uninstall the respective package, be it either intel or AMD and then install the newer one (after driver-sweeping all the old remnants off ur system)

    cheers

Jaybee pardon me for this might be a silly question. I'm new to this. I am not an experienced overclocker and just a typical user.

where exactly do I put the "-xcl" extension in the shortcut? I have tried it but failed. =(

And i'm currently on stock everything but with the new drivers. Do I still have to do something for it to work?

I have the EM version of the machine..

    Many thanks!!
