Does anyone have the Sager with the 120hz display? I was wondering how it performs and how nice 3d movies look on it? Also is the Np8170 huge? I have a Toshiba Satellite L675 17" and its a pretty big laptop, is the Sager a tank or is it bearable?

I can't speak to the screen, but I'll let you make your own decision about the size and weight of the 8170.

    Size: 16.22" x 10.87" x 1.65~1.79" (Length x width x height)
    Weight: 8.6 lb. including battery

Note that the weight does not include the AC adapter. The 8170 comes with a 220W PSU, and that is going to be enormous. Now if your machine is going to be sitting on a desk 95% of the time, it might not be a big deal, but if you're going to be carrying it with you everywhere, be prepared to give your shoulders a workout.

It's not that bad with a good backpack, unless you plan to be walking for hours at a time. Coming from two years experience with the Alienware Orion backpack + a D900F

The 8170 is about 1.5-2 lbs heavier, so it will have some more heft to it. It's still not bad though, especially if you compare it to something like the 7282 which is a true desktop replacement. I think you will really like the 8170 and the 3d screens have looked great on these according to the feedback I have received.

There's a thread on this forum here that tells us performance and overall reviews of it, both in 3D mode and in non-3D mode.

Do these 3D 120hz screen comprimise color/picture quality(without 3D on) over the regular Matte95% screens? Is the 120hz refresh rate always active, even without 3D on, helping in 2D movies and games(3D model games, not "real" 3D)?

    thanks :)

edit: oops, started reading the thread D2 Ultima posted and it has some information :).

Sager has stopped offering the 3D 120hz screen, so all Sager resellers have removed it.

Why...? 120hz on laptops is like such a killer feature. If they had offered it when I bought my np8130 I would have got that instead for sure.

Quake live 120hz on the go? Yes please...

We might see its return some day. The NP8760 also offered it for a while and it disappeared, then the option came back months later for the NP8170. Maybe after the new models are out for a while it will be back.

Sager is in the process of changing their entire line-up. With some pretty cool news pending :)

    Edit: Fixed

Malibal and Mythlogic aren't Sager resellers, so they aren't restricted by Sager's rules.
