Sorry for rebooting this subject that can already be found in treads like:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-p375sm-3d-120hz-screen-possible.734985/

Since the thread by Sectorz is locked I had to create this new one...

After long hours of research here and some other forums I couldn't find anyone confirming if it's possible or not to fit a 120hz fully working on the EXACT MODEL CLEVO P375SM. I could only find that it would be PROBABLY possible, but not surely possible... On the tread that I mentioned above made by Sectorz, Prostar Computer repplied to Sectorz that it would fit, but he said that there was a chance that It wouldn't be as good as if it was in a P370, he said : " it couldn't be guaranteed to have the good performance"

    I also found this one:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-p375sm.768884/page-2

Again ...there wasn't a sure unswer like : "yes 100% fits, I have a P375SM fully working on 3D and 120HZ"... actually this thread above only made me even more in doubt if I should go for this or not...because on this one people are saying that it's super hard to find the cable.... :)

I created this thread to see if someone already tried on this particular model P375SM, or to check with someone if this upgrade fully fits or not... I'm planing to buy the combo screen + correct EDP cable... so I have to be sure that it 100% fits and function right first...

And about the cable I would also like to know if this one is the right one for this upgrade :

Is this the right cable or not? If not ...which one is the right one? Actually I'm even more confused because I saw in this thread right here that this cable above is incorrect... :

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/120hz-screen-for-np9377sm-a.770505/page-9

Clevo extreme (CEG) just repplied to me in another thread that the right one EDP that belongs to the P377 is : 6-43-p37e1-030-j, which is wierd, because if you go to Eurocom spare parts for the P377, the code there is exactly like the one above on the picture : 6-43-p37e1-020-j... so... I just don't know :), maybe the one that Eurocom has for spare parts is the on that belongs for the P370 like the one in the picture above (which I'm almost sure that is compatible with P377 as well...maybe with the P375SM too hahaha... because the size of the conector of the EDP cable seems about right with the P375SM mobo EDP conection), which makes me even more confuse :).... maybe they're just conspiracing against the P375SM....

About the P375SM, it has the EDP connection, here's a picture of P375SM mobo by KANTANA:

    (THANKS FOR THIS PICTURE KANTANA!)
I got this picture on this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/120hz-screen-for-np9377sm-a.770505/page-10#post-9949638

Unfortunately nobody could unswer Kantana question if the 120hz panel was 100% compatible on P375SM.

The mobo picture above is exactly like mine, I would like to confirm if the P375SM is fully compatible with the 120hz panel or not, if yes, would someone recomend me where to buy the kit 120hz screen + the correct edp cable?

Note: I'm sorry if this info about the Exact model P375SM is already out there, I just couldn't find it after 3 days searching, If it's already there just let me know and I'll delete this thread...

I don't think the newer ones will fit it, only the older 120 Hz screens which can be hard to find. However, if you have one, I believe it should work. My P377SM-A has a 120 Hz screen.

The problem is not the screen, it's not that hard to find, I found it for 85$ brand new online, the problem is the cable, the cable is really hard to find, and not only that I found some rumors that it will probably turn on the screen, which btw the code is LP173WF2 50 pin panel, but it wouldn't be possible to adjust the brightness, this information I got from Mr woodzstack, he said plp from eurocom told him that...But I still think plp from Eurocom are confused too, because I asked them About this upgrade myself, and in the beginning of the conversation they said the p375 wasnt compatible because it doesn't have edp on the mobo... then after I explained to them and sent them the picture of the mobo they changed their mind about it and they actually gave me the price for the cable and screen, I just won't buy with them because they're asking 413,00 for the screen... It's too much. I asked them if it would going to be fully working on the P375 but they didn't answer me yet (I don't even think they will). And since I couldn't find a 100% answer yet anywhere I don't think I'll do it until I'm absolutely sure that's going to be 100% working on it. So I just don't know... the only way to findout for sure is to find someone with a P375 that actually tried ..

You can use both the cable and 120Hz panel in your P375SM laptop however due to BIOS/EC you won't be able to adjust brightness. The P377SM/SMA (EUROCOM X8) supports 120Hz without any limitations.

Thank you so much for the answer!

Well since it's not going to be fully working as if it would on a P377 then I'll give up on this project!

Thank you for giving closure for us P375 owner's on this 120hz subject!

i think you should still able to adjust brightness thraught windows panel and battery icon but not from hotkey by adding in regedit some keys in nvidia. i am doing like that for the 4k panel in my p377sma.

What i know is p37xSMA have edp port but some p375sm doesnt have. To be sure you got it, you can unmount your keyboard, taking the flashlight from an smartphone and looking down catching 2 white ports in the right zone. it avoid you to unmount everything.

to buy a cable, check ebay or ask from clevo extrem gaming..but 85$ the cable is not right....negociate it :p
Then to buy cheap screen, you can try taobao with taobao agent and you will have everything cheaper ;)

The edp cable ref. older but working is : 6-43-p1701-010-jd HL 11 04 23 (take care to read edp and not LVDS as example in your cable picture)

Thanks for the tips! I had already checked my P375, and it does have the EDP port on it, I opened everything last week to do a complete clean up, that's where the jorney for the 120hz panel begun for me hehehe! So the P170 EDP cable fits here too? Well ...about the 85,00 R$ it was the price for the panel, I found it online brand new and it's glossy one LP173WF2 A1 which is more expensive than the matte one LP173WF2 B1, Eurocom charged me 413,00 for the matte panel LP173WF2 B1, 60,00 $ for the cable + 125,00 for the shipping, cable and shipping is acceptable because I live in Brazil and I know it's a rare cable, but 413,00 for the screen it's just too much, I can buy a 55'' LED tv with that kind of money.

So if it's written LVDS on the cable, it wont work? Because I was negotiating with the user Brent R., he has the cable from the picture and on his cable it's written LVDS, so I guess I wont be buying from him anymore >.<...which btw this cable code 6-43-p37e1-020-j that is written LVDS is the same one eurocom has it on the upgrade parts for the P377 (that made me really confused).

I already tried to track down this cable you mentioned 6-43-p1701-010-jd and it seems it's rare as well >.<, I'm going to PM CEG about the cable, you gave me some hope on this thing, I want 120hz purely because I'm a csgo gamer, and 120hz screen changes everything on this game. Thanks again!

Don't worry about that; the cable is mislabeled.

All 3D/120Hz panels on laptops are 50-pin, 4-lane eDP. LVDS would've required dual connectors (40+20 pin, at minimum) because it wouldn't have sufficient bandwidth otherwise, this is what LVDS desktop monitors do. As for why it's still labeled 'LVDS' ... the confusion arises from the fact that the cable itself is physically 100% identical to an eDP cable; both are copper wires, but it is the communication protocol (the language) that is different. This mislabeling happens a lot, same as with LED vs. LCD, because many sellers and even manufacturers, it seems, aren't too concerned about the differences between the various technologies.

If you need further proof, then count the number of pins. All the dual-interface Clevos have a 30-pin eDP and a 40-pin LVDS connector and simply counting the number of pins you can see in the picture should tally up to 15 (one side), so it's a 30-pin cable at the motherboard end, meaning it'll only fit the eDP connector. Same for the reverse; taking into account the no-pins split it'll yield 50 pins, so it's a 50-pin connector on the lcd side.

A good, fair price is $30-35, ex shipping.

Awesome! Would you recomend somoone/store that has it for that price? I contacted a Clevo spare parts re-seller and the guy almost killed me thorough the e-mail message:

"I am not supplying parts to people trying to do a made in the shed laptop then you wine it burnt out because you didn’t know what you were doing"

I'm not even going to say which store is because the guy might want to sue me or something...my message to the store was:

    "Hello!
I couldn't find the cable on your website, I need one of these cables:

    EDP 6-43-p1701-010-jd
    or:
    EDP 6-43-p37e1-020-j
    or
    EDP 6-43-p37e1-030-j

It seems that there are some versions of these cables that are written LVDS on it, I need the one that is written EDP, do you have it?

    Thanks!"

I have no Idea why the guy was so mean to me ;´´(... anyways it's been a pain to find this cable...

The cable IS LVDS it still uses the physical principle but as you say it's not transmitted in the same form.

Its a failure of the original name to separate the protocol and transmission method.

So in other words the cable that is labeled as LVDS that is 100% physicaly the same as the EDP one wouldn't work, right? It has to be written EDP to work properly, correct?

Omg as if it wasn't hard enough to find it :/ as it is...

That cable is 100% fine, period. Meaker has gotten you confused by dotting the i's, even if he's technically correct.
Sure, but no one is going to call them LVDS-LVDS and LVDS-eDP cables. Same thing with LCD's; CCFL-LCD and LED-LCD would've been more accurate, but ... see what happens :vbtongue: ?
How peculiar ... not a lot of profit in a cable, yet ... customer-friendly it isn't.

Would've suggested CEG, as they're very cost-conscious, but if that was their response ... Try asking RJTech or Goldenstar Computer, bought this very same cable from them.

Well I already contacted CEG, they didn't repply me yet, about the "mean" answer it wasn't none of those suppliers that you listed above that gave me that answer haha... but yeah I already tried RJTech, they didn't answer yet, I'm going to try this GoldenStar one!

I was only able to find this 6-43-p37e1-020-j until now, at eurocom and at this huge distributor store :

    https://www.fortunetechnology.com/spares/3711/

There its listed as LVDS just as well :
    LVDS Cable 3D 120Hz- P370SM3 6-43-P37E1-020-J

So I'd presume that all cables with the code 6-43-P37E1-020-J willl have a LVDS label on it, righ? Or did they make the same code with EDP label as well?

Now that Meaker@Sager said that this LVDS 3D 120hz labeled cable has a different pin out it means it wouldn't work for this project or that I'll be totally gambling, there's a risk that it wont work and also that I might burn my edp conection on the mobo and also the brand new screen.

They'll all be labeled 'LVDS'. This doesn't matter; they'll carry the eDP signal regardless of the label because they'll only interface with the eDP connector. Forcing this cable into the 40-pin LVDS connector wouldn't be a terribly good idea, of course.
No gamble necessary; there's only one 30-pin motherboard -> 50-pin lcd cable and, again, the Clevo's 30-pin connector outputs eDP protocol over the correct pins. This is the cable you want, there is no other.

Meaker only meant that it is the pin-out that makes a cable compatible for an LVDS or eDP panel. See, the motherboard pins have to line up to the proper pins of the panel (some are combined or split-off, hence 30 -> 50) and the motherboard has to talk the same language as the lcd. All that distinguishes one cable from another is the way their pins are hooked up, that is what Meaker was hinting at.

Ceg asked the user syceo that got the labeled LVDS cable to return it, it seems that he was planing to do same thing as I am, so I got confused....

No, CEG was referring to a different, erroneously shipped cable, not the one pictured. The one photographed was the good version @syceo received on the second attempt.

Look here, this is my 120Hz/3D cable (labeled '6-43-P37E1-020-J + LVDS'), driving a LP173WF2-TPB1, which is a 120Hz/3D eDP panel:

Omg dude!! Thanks so much for clarifing that! I was really confused about this whole thing! Now I can actually buy it from Brent R. course if he makes a good price :D, since your model is a P370SM3 I presume you have no problem in changing brightness, right? I have no idea why clevo would release two kinds of mobo for the P375SM (one with the edp conector like mine and the other one without the conector), makes no sense to me, well I guess I'm going to continue with this project then! Hopefully I'll be able to change the Brightness through the windows like DARCODER does with his laptop, since nobody that owns a P375SM that possibly tried this thing showed up I guess I'll be the guinea pig for this experiment :D.

Sorry for huge confusion mixing all the informations, it's because since english isnt my main language I still have problems interpreting the full meaning of some sentences hehe ;p ... thanks again!

this is my thread so here the regedit code to add brightness control. Hope gonna work for you :)
Why i guess it should work? because i add an 4k screen and only way to mod brightness is in control center, or battery icon or windows menu. ( only hotkey not working)

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/p377sma-4k-display-upgrade-waiting-for-parts-to-test.786555/

i baught my old 120Hz+edp cable in ebay for nothing because the screen has a big dust inside the panel, i clean it ( tuto in my youtube chanel) and now just got 1 dead pixel instead. what i wanted to tell you, this screen was from p370hm3. All clevo and alienware "3d" <2015 used same LG 120Hz screen. i see from first picture is wrotten lvds in the cable , i think more its an mistake because it has a 50pin to 30pin. lvds in clevo is 30pin to 40pin(more ground pin). I have 1 lvds 1 edp 120hz and 1 4k edp screen. Hoplessly cannot sell u the 120hz+cable for nothing because idk for how much time this 4k will resist xD ( i plug it at 5v instead of 3.3v...)

Market are not the same everywhere while from an european shop or us/ca shop they will offer you a warranty for the price you are paying, occasions doesn't offer warranty and you don't know how the item was before beeing selled ( repaired, cleaned, reflowed...)
From china, with taobao or others i may still not know ( i baught many times from taobao it's risky but it might worth) a 120Hz 1080p screen is +-50$, you have to add taxes from your country, the taobao agent tax , and shipping. So for less than 100$ you can have a new 120Hz screen without warranty but ( if you are unlucky, you can have dead pixels, my 4k got 2) but other parts i baught like for example screen for samsung s6 or s7 were perfect.
A combo screen+cable is hard to catch, my combo from ebay got it for 70$ but it was a "bad" screen but i believe you might be able to find a cable on taobao.

    Thanks for the tips!

Well CEG already answered me, they have the cable, it's 20 euros with them + 10 of shipping, I'm already closing the deal with them for the cable, and for the screen i preffer the glossy one, im going to be buying a brand new from china, they garantee no dead pixel and it's sealed for 85$ and free shipping, so at the end it's going to be around 130$ all brand new : )

There was Brent R. (user from this forum that is seeling the combo), I offered him 100,00 $ for the combo since he's not a store + shipping he refused... so im going with the brand new option buying with stores

    Hey guys!

    So, it's conclusion time!!!

My panel that I Bought from aliexpress (it came from Singapore!), it was 90$, brand new with freeshipping, arrived last week, and yesterday it arrived the cable from germany that i bought from CEG, EDP 6-43-p1701-010-jd.... and.... PERFECT!!!

I successfully installed the 120hz panel and the cable on my Clevo P375SM, I did it very carefully, I always take a picture of the screws positions, then I print it, and then I put the screws on top of the picture on top of each screw position, so in the end after the job I always close the laptop nicelly without the problem of missing the screws position!

It took me about an hour to do it nicelly with no hurry, then I was impressed with the huge improvement from 60hz to 120hz, the difference is just HUUUGEEE, for someone that plays CS, 120hz is a must! And every other game looks and feels sooo much better and fluid, even watching videos became more exiting, this panel from LG LP173WF2TP A1 (It's not tottaly glossy the A1 version, I'd say it's half glossy and half matte) the image quality is also so much better and alive than the old stock panel that comes with almost all 60hz clevos, code N173HGE-L11 (this is my old stock panel that now I'm going to sell it).

I don't know why Eurocom has so much burocracy for this upgrade, it works dandy, and for the Brightness issue, I can controll the brightness with an APP called "Dimmer", and I'm pretty sure it's not that hard for eurocom/prema to fix this Brightness issue on the bios (since they already did it for the clevo P370 and P377), I don't know what exactly they have against the P375SM model, well.. I guess they must have theyr reasons, well, I always use the full brightness anyways, whenever I feel like my eyes are tired I can easily reduce the brightness with that app "Dimmer"!

I'm happy with this upgrade! Thanks DARCODER for not letting me give up on this project! : ), hopefully this thread and this conclusion will help someone that was in doubt just like I was, thanks everyone that repplied on this thread trying to help too! I'm really greatefull!!

I just did an upgrade yesterday for my P370SM-A , had the eDP connector on the motherboard. Bought LG LP173WF2TP A1 from ebay, came from a disassembled Dell Alienware m17x R4 3d, total was 80€ shipped.

EDP 6-43-p1701-010-jd -cable i bought from CEG ebay store, 30€ + shipping.

Installation was smooth, only the eDP cable was wayyy too long, connectors were a match, managed to fold the extra wire under the top case. Have to say that the upgrade was totally worth it, 120hz is great. Didn't really like the grainy surface finish on N173HGE-L11, on white background it always looked like there was dust on the panel...
