    Hey,

Ive recently bought a new camcorder, the Sony HVR V1u. I want to do some editing on my laptop, so i bought an ilink to ilink cable (1394 mini to 1394 mini). However vista would not recognize the camcorder. Are there any solutions to this?

    Thanks

Hey brother. I got an Sony A1U and a Canon XH G1. Both are detected by Vista x64 and both can be controlled in it. However, when it comes to digitizing footage. Nothing gets picked up. My solution is to make a 10GB partition, install the Vista 32bit version of what you got and do your capturing from there. Then you can edit in Vista 64bit.

Want to capture HDV, check out HDVSplit
Want to capture DV, check out Estate DV Capture or WinDV capture

Also, if you live in the states, do me a favour, call Microsoft and tell them your problem. Hopefully they'll do something about it in an update (too late for SP2 I think) and then I won't have to dual boot.
