I have a 17" clevo (P870DM-G), Im having some intermittent issues with the panel, and Im thinking of replacing it. However before I do replace it, Id like to test it on a 15" panel (also for a clevo P650SG) I have here. Both are eDP connectors. Will I have any issues connecting the 15 panel on the 17 clevo ? just for testing.

No, as long as the pin-out is the same and both have the same lane-count (2 or 4). Just to be sure; which panels are they?

So long as the cable physically fits then yes you are good to try it.

BOE NV156FHM-N43 (15") only has 2 lanes eDP, while the AUO B173QTN01.0 (17") has 4 lanes. is it still ok?

Yes, but you have to use the cable from the corresponding panel then. The BOE is 30-pin/2-lane and the AUO 40-pin/4-lane, but both Clevos can handle 4-lane eDP and have the same connector configuration. The 17.3" does use twice the amount of power, but the 15.6" system can also run 4K, so it's build to handle a lot more than 1080p.
