I'm wondering if this is a possibility for any reseller out there. Lenovo's upcoming y570 has as 2630qm, nvidia 555m with optimus. The dealbreaker there is the 1366x768 resolution but otherwise the specs on that system are a dream.
The reason why I'm particularly interested in optimus, aside from battery life, is that it can drive accelerated content through intel's wireless display! I'd love to take advantage of that feature, but the cards that are more powerful than the nvidia 540m have optimus disabled for some reason.

I know but I'm interested in the 555m since it performs much better than the 540m while retaining optimus.

Yea if the Sager/Clevo can get the GT 555M instead of the GT 540M, that would be perfect. I'm looking to upgrade from my MSI GE600 which has a HD5730, but the GT 540M is not much of an improvement over my current GPU... the 555M is much better.

Thanks for pointing this model out!
I would gladly pay extra for a 1080 or even 900p IPS screen. Why put such great hardware into a machine that will be held back by a weak LCD screen. -

I don't think upgrading from 540m to 555m should be a problem, unless:
1) The 555m physical dimensions are different (i.e. bigger)
2) The 540m is somehow soldered onto the motherboard -
Eesh, sorry to jump on the bandwagon here, but the lack of a 555 option is the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on that notebook with a 900p screen. Its basically perfect for what I want.

I agree with the OP. I have been looking for a laptop with the same exact specs. The NP5160 is my ideal laptop. The only thing I don't like about it is the GPU. I don't really need it for the WiDi. I want the GT555m just because it's a little bit better for gaming and isn't that much more expensive than the GT540m. I've had my NP5160 pre-ordered since January. I should be getting a call to confirm if I still would like to proceed with the purchase. But I am questioning is it worth waiting a bit longer to see if Sager will come out with a computer with the SB i7+1920x1080 res+ GT555m on a 15 inch model? Or when Xoticpc calls me about proceeding with completing my order, should I just tell them to go ahead and charge me? :/ Any advice or opinions would be nice!

While the GT540M isn't a dealbreaker for me, as I ordered an NP5160, I have to agree with everyone else that a GT555M would have been much nicer. All the specs on it are really nice with the exception of the midrange video card.

Help us mythlogic :/...since you guys have 'truly custom' laptops
I know you guys are one of the few sites that offer the custom 95% gamut matte screen for the W150HNQ shell. Is there anything that can be done about that 540m?

This makes me wonder if a new MXM connector is needed in order to have Optimus working... my guess is yes...
15 inch chassis with i7 + 555m + optimus?
