how did they manage to squeeze it in there? isnt there thermal issues?

Its predecessor could run the 280M without major issue, so I'm not too surprised.
-
No. Someone already squeezed in 280M GTX in the M860ETU which only has one fan, and the temps are acceptable. I guess the W860CU will handle it quite well because it has a fan for the GPU and the CPU.
It is not the mobile version of the desktop card. Its just a rebrand of the 9800M GTX with a little more shaders. -
Not with 2 fans cooling the GPU and CPU, this is a great addition.
-
280M isn't that much hotter than a 260M
-
Yeah apparently the thermal differences in the 260m and 280 are very small. One of the people that got the new M15x put in a 280 and It worked just fine. The difference between a single 260 and 280 is minimal performance wise unless the 260 is undervolted like the Asus g51's.

sytange since the 280ms r alot more cash then the 260ms
-
260M GTX=$415
280M GTX=$490
$75 is not that much more when you are already spending over $400 for a GPU.
I got those prices from a barebones reseller.
15 incher witha 280m!!!!!!!?????????
