It appears that quite alot of Clevo resellers are selling 17'' (or bigger) laptops. And most reviews refer to this size. I intend to get a 15.4''. Is this as good as the larger counterpart?

Yes they are just as good and high quality, but not meant for high-end gaming... like the 17" beasts.

Are there any 15'' Clevo's? I thought they stopped making them.

Clevo makes many size notebooks, but their 17"+ gaming notebooks are the most well-known.

check out all of the Clevo notebooks, go to:
    - www.eurocom .com

most of those are all Clevo's... only some of the 15.4" gaming notebooks are from Compal.

Actually, after browsing through the resellers' website, it seems that most of their 15.4'' are from Compal....

the reason why these Clevo resellers started getting some Compal gaming units in... is because Clevo has stopped producing 15.4" gaming notebooks.

Too bad, its a huge market niche now.

In that case, would one be better off getting a compal or asus 15.4'' instead of clevo? I'm thinking in a broad sense including continued support and resale value after 2-3 years.

the resale value is still high for the 15.4" notebooks, it really depends on what the features are and how you take care of it.

But if you want to game, then look towards the:
    - Dell Vostro 1500
    - Compal IFL-90 (Sager 2090)
    - Dell 1520
    - Asus V1s
    - Asus G1s
    - Asus C90s

Thats in order of pricing (from low to high)... for pretty much the same/comparable performance (w/ 8600M GT)... and bang for the buck.

The 2090 still cuts it, though. It runs Bioshock fairly well at max settings.

The NP2090 is a Compal machine, rather than a Clevo-made machine, however.
