    Hi there,

Do you know any assembler who's offering a 15.6" P150HM/P151HM1 based laptop with a GTX 560M or 570M with Optimus enabled ?

I've contacted Powernotebook.com and they told me their GTX based laptops doesn't support Optimus.

I'm only looking for a 560 or 570M because I can't afford a more expensive card (my budget is roughly 1000-1100EUR), and I'm looking for a Sager/Clevo because I need a laptop which doesn't look like a "toy" (i.e. Alienwares, I know some of them do support Optimus).

    Thanks a lot.

P150HM/P151HM1 does not support Nvidia Optimus with GTX 560M - 580M. See W150HRM, but Geforсe 555M graphics card and support Optimus.

So the only way to get Optimus is either through a GTX Alienware or through a GT555M laptop ?

Yes. Why do you Optimus? With him so many problems. GTX560M uses very little power at idle.

Because I'm a (real) student, I'm not spending all my time playing video games and when I'm going to the library (which is almost everyday), I need at least 4hrs of battery life.

On the other hand, when I'm back home and I got nothing else to do, I'd like to be able to play any games on my laptop, and I guess I will struggle with the GT555M at high resolution.

If you know any GTX560m's laptop that has 4hours of battery life (without buying an extra battery), please let me know !

See other laptop manufacturers. HP, Asus with a large battery and AMD Radeon 6770m or 6850m

If you can wait till around mid year next year the new range is said to have optimus on the higher end models.

You can get switchable graphics with a hardware switch in the MSI ge600 or ms-1675. It comes with the ATI 5730 and uses MXM so you could upgrade it to the gtx 460m yourself (560m is a little pricey right now).

You'd have to do some cooling mods but it would fit well in your budget considering the barebones are just under 500$ in the USA. The build quality isn't the best but at least it doesn't look like a toy. And it would be the only way to get what you want right now unless you need a quad core.
I can tell you where to get a gtx 460m for cheap if you want.

BTW the Clevo laptops with optimus are not upgradeable

you cant have power and battery. choose one, ill just choose 570m the least, anything below that you are gonna be pissed, my last laptop had gtx460m, it was good, but not great. unlike some "real" student , I graduated with a masters in Aerospace already :p

    Lol... ^

Dude you might be pissed with a gtx 560m if you are coming from a gtx 280m....... plenty of people are coming from 9800m gt or gs which is pretty awful by comparison.

Also see my post, its entirely possible to get battery with a 560m or 570m, just have to find a notebook with switchable graphics that supports it. The Dell m17x r1 is also hopeful with this except that the CPU is so old.

Bear in mind my budget is 1000eur.

I guess I'll get a 555m with optimus, coming from a i7-620M/GT310M (which was surprinsingly able to run pretty much everything in 1366x768 in medium-high details on a 13.3"); it'll be a huge step forward.
