I was/am really happy with it, great screen, looks cool, no complaints whatsoever.

Maybe somebody with a similar experience can give me a clue or two.

A couple of weeks ago it did not turn on right away, but after turning it on and off twice it came on ( first signs of trouble? ). Until today that had been the only hint of possible trouble, worked fine every day after that.

Press the power button, screen stays blank, fans do kick in after 30sec. or a minute, then stop, start as needed. Unplugging the power cord screen still blank power is on, but the battery light goes off ( it should always be on just change colors depending on status ) . This is not right as far as I can remember so suspecting trouble with the battery or power supply I turn it off remove the battery, turn it on, same thing.

I did open it, hard disk seems to be in place, RAM seems to be in place and I should at least see the bios screen right?

Sometimes when I press the power button lights come on, and then it turns off after a few seconds. Most of the time power stays on but nothing hapens. I think I cann hear the hard disk spin up on power up ( hard disk light is on for a few seconds too, anyway even if the hard disk is dead I should be seeing the bios screen?

Plugged it into a TV via HDMI, nothing shows up. I don't have an external monitor to try and see if it's the screen that's dead, so that's about it.

Any ideas until I contact support?

So the fans kick on, and you see lights, but nothing comes up on the screen? I had this issue when my ram sticks were mixed up after putting them back in (for whatever reason that happened?) Anyways, you could try that.

You could also try unplugging everything, incl. the battery and dont touch it for a day then try plugging it in. Heard that worked for someone else.

I've tried all those things and just now after about 45 minutes I managed to get it turned on.

Maybe I'm stupid and there is some secret Clevo code, but this is what I did. With the power turned off I held down function key and F2 ( LCD on - off ). At the same time pressed power and the power did not come on. Then I let go of the function/F2 and pressed power again and it came on. ?

The other time when it happened I think I did something similar right away. Don't even know why. I mean, when it's off, pressing function + F2 should have no effect right? Or is this something I'm too dumb to know about?

Just to make it clear earlier when the power led was on but it played dead, pressing the function + F2 did nothing.

replied to the other post but you could try removing battery and mains power and hold power button down for 10-15 seconds to discharge all power.
the Fn & F2 keys are to turn backlight off but normaly turn on instantly they are pressed again.
seems strange that its taking that long though.
might be worth contacting your suppliers support to see if they have any other ideas.

But that only works when the laptop is actually on and running. Mine was dead. Power lead was on, fans running, but nothing happens. Then I turn it off press all three simultaneously: power button, Fn & F2, hold for 6-7 seconds and let go. Then I press the power button and it starts up normally. It could be just a coincidence as I don't see how pushing these when the laptop is off would do anything.

It sounds like a coincidence, as that key combo shouldn't have have any effect on booting it. As long as it's working properly now, that's a good sign.

Maybe it was too heavy ( I spelled it power LEAD ).

Well, it powered on normally this morning. I changed my power settings to never turn off the screen ( used to be after an hour ) just in case it's some weird screen off setting stuck in RAM ( as somebody suggested ).

Can these screens experience any kind of burn in or other damage if just left on for a few hours or even overnight ( same image on screen ). I'm guessing no, but want to make sure.

Nope, that's a problem limited to plasma displays mostly. I've never seen that happening on an LCD (because the technology is just turning on/off pixels).
