Anyone else having their cpu smoked by Guild Wars 2? HWmonitor is showing it spiking upwards of 84c (going down pretty quickly thereafter) during huge events, while my gpu is remaining at a cool sub 75c.

I'd really rather not have to do a re-paste considering i paid $35 for the factory to do it correctly, so hopefully this is somewhat normal.

I paid $35 for ICD7 too, not worth it. The new paste job I did with PK-3 afterwards decreased the temp by 5C and that PK-3 only costs me around $10. What they did was squeeze a lot of the ICD7 on the CPU and the GPU die... Brand name of the builder is in my signature.

Ya i was really hoping to avoid doing that seeing as how I've never done it myself and ICD can also be tricky to work with. It just seems weird that the CPU is being pushed so high on GW's when no other game (skyrim, BF3, etc.....) comes near those numbers.

I also find it hard to believe the game is being bottle-necked by current gen quad-core, but I suppose I could be wrong.

I wouldnt use ICD7 again. it can scratch your equipment over time. I prefer gelid extreme or PK-3 as hackness said

Yea I stopped using ICD7 right after I see the scratches, and PK-3 performs a lot better when the contact is decent.

as I believe, guild wars 2 is a very cpu intensive game.. (I got that from another source but can't find it at the moment.)

I first reached 80c during pvp gameplay.. so I repasted and now would top only 76c.. but i'm not much into wvwvw yet..

So a repaste might be a good idea..
