I have a p150HM and i have just increased the ram from 8gb 1600Mhz to 16gb 1600Mhz, In CPUid it says that the two new RAM units are 1333Mhz.
Anyone know why this is or how to change it so that the correct reading is there?

You need 2720qm and above to get that speed

    Are you using XMP RAM?

In CPU-Z the two modules showing 1333 are saying they are XMP, the two that are showing 1600 are not coming up as XMP. All four are Kingston Hyper-X, so i assumed thy would be the same.

I believe only two of the slots in the P150HM support 1600mHz RAM.

    So that sounds about right.

This model does not support XMP RAM (it's a limitation of the HM65 chipset). You need to order JEDEC Plug-and-Play 1600Mhz RAM if you want it to run at the rated speed. There are two varieties of that RAM- XMP and Plug-and-Play 1600Mhz, so you have to be careful which you order. You'll have to return/trade the RAM you have for the Plug-and-Play and you'll be good to go :)

My Eurocom Racer came with a 2720 and 8GB [2x4GB]1600mhz XMP. It runs at 1333mhz. I called Eurocom support and they just played dumb. I had to buy the JEDEC to get her to run at 1600MHZ. I ended up using the XMP sticks in my Alienware M18X as it has a bios setting for the XMP@1600. Cant really say I noticed a big difference. Money is probably better spent on a SSD or Hybrid. Seagate now has a 750GB Hybrid drive, so thats pretty kewl!

^ agree with Malibal. I made the same mistake of ordering a XMP version of the 1600MHz RAM. Oh well, I gave that one to someone else (who used to use 3GB so it's a huge upgrade) and treated myself to a 1866 Plug-N-Play :)

Will either of these work in a NP5165?

    Newegg.com - Patriot Signature 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model PSD316G1333SK

    Newegg.com - CORSAIR 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 Laptop Memory Model CMSO16GX3M2A1333C9

I know they are not 1600mhz, but last time I bought RAM (4-5 years ago) all I had to care about was if it was DDR2, and what MHz it was rated at. I'm not sure what the plug-n-play and jedec talk is about right now. I just want a 2x8gb kit that will work. I tried to find 2x8GB 1600mhz but the only one I found is a CL11, which will be about the same speed as CL9 1333mhz but a lot more expensive.

Those should both be compatible with your model. They're expensive, but if you need the capacity- well, then it's obviously up to you. You're right though, the less impressive timings of the 1600Mhz would negate a lot of the improvement.
