    Hi all,

I've decided to go for something a little less ambitious since I conncluded that for occasional gaming the 9262 is a little overkill. So the 8660 will do just fine. Given that I've always wanted a glossy screen, I am having troubles deciding whether the 1680x1050 will be sufficient (as opposed to getting 1920x1200 but matt). Do any of you who have 1680x1050 find it isnt crisp/sharp enough or that you don't have enough desktop space for icons?

    Any input/feedback greatly appreciated!

personally I ve changed the 17' WUXGA to WSXGA screen on my 9262 as the res was wayy to high. I can not imagine having that res on a 15'4 screen.

1920x1080 glossy for 17'' is the best imo.

isnt 1680x1050 the highest possible for 15.4'', text is going to be distorted with 1920x1200 on 15.4.

    @ nomoredell :

I probably would have done that if it were possible, but glossy only goes for the lower res...so that's where I ask myself whether to just go for a nice n glossy screen but with lower res...am just not sure to what extent gaming will suffer under this

well, what are the specs of the laptop? if they are not sufficient enough then you probably wont want to even dare go nare 1920x1080 or 1920x1200, whichever.

I have the m860tu with the 1920x1200 matter screen. Personally, i absolutely love it. Atm i play all games at 1920X1200 resolution and its beautiful, as for destop resoultion, i did change the dpi to 120 from 95, and i find it easy to read. I know i wont always be able to play games at 1920X1200 but ive tested the monitor on lower resolution settings on games and its still a beauty. Also i hate glare and can not stand all my friends glossy screens. After gaming on this screen for a month+ i can say that it was a great buy. I, like you was also hesitant on the high res, however it is awsome and matte is a huge bonus for me!

I have the 1650 glossy and before that a toshiba with a 1440x900 matte. I can honestly tell you I prefer the glossy. So far it has not been proven to be a problem for me, the colours are rich and vibrant and the glare when the screen is on and i'm watching movies isn't there. Or at least isn't there to the point that I care or any of my clients care. We watch everything properly. In fact, a lot of clients have actually rather watch their videos on my m860tu because it looks so much darn better than their own entertainment systems at home :D
