Does anyone know if sager is coming out with a 17 LCD with dual GPU? specifically 512MB. 19" is just way too big for me as a laptop.

Unless Clevo makes one, then no. And even then, Sager may not pick it up.

The Sager NP5760 is the most powerful 17" they offer right now. Its Go7900GTX 512MB is a monster.

Alienware pulled it off and are the only company to have done so. It is a pretty thick system though-m9700

Doesn't Alienware use Clevos as well...?

Yes, over the desk instead of under the bed. :D

They do, but only the D900 (Area-51 m7700 and Aurora m7700) and M590K (mALX). They have started using Uniwill for some - m5550 and m5750 - and I believe the m9700 (the 17" SLI) is an Arima.

So it seems Alienware seems to be the only ones with a 17" SLI for now.

I was thinking about that system but a little hesitant with all the negative comments about the company. Sager seems to have better customer comments, but I really wanted a SLI for gaming. 7900GTX 512MB can play any game out now, It's just that I don't wanna spend $2-3G on a system that would be outdated in 2-3years.

we understand but the only real way to keep up is to get a desktop. as much as the Clevo/Sagers are known for their upgradeable GPU cards, there has to be a limit and based on some postings lately (paladin), the D900 series is about to come to an end. yes, yes, dell has been able to upgrade the gpu as well but not officially sanctioned, as i understand and observed.

From what I've seen of SLI-notebooks, I'm not real happy with the CPU or RAM options available. Not to mention the extra weight and heat that will be involved with an extra GPU. I think SLI is an excellent technology, but I don't know if it's optimized for a mobile system.

I would opt for the NP5760 with the single go 7900 GTX. It's a beast in itself. Ooops. I meant Monster as Chaz put it ;).

I read the posting too, that the D900 series is ending soon. I take it that the NP5760 (clevo M570U?) is the latest series?

yeah, a core 2 duo would be a far better option than the AMD turion. best to wait till they sort this all out. otherwise, the M1710 with the Core 2 Duo is the now option or wait till the 5760 comes out with the Core 2 Duo at the end of this month or October...

    1. The NP9890 and NP9750 will not be "...ending soon", it is just that they will not have anymore updates. They will still be around for several more months.
    2. Yes, the NP5760 is the latest version of that model.
    3. The NP5760 is already shipping with the Core2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz 2M) and the T7200, T7400 and 7600 with 4M L2 On-die cache will start shipping in early October...as in 2-3 weeks.
