so it's definitely between the two. I WILL be a sager/clevo owner.

    My question is this:

I am NOT a mouse user on laptops. I play mmo's and rely on the trackpad. (Iknow I know I know...... it's just how I play! :) ) How are the track pads on both these models?

Also, I would rather put money into meat and potato's rather than screen upgrade as all this computer will be doing is work and gaming. How are the stock screens?

    Thanks,

    ~Nevertree

    Hi Nevertree,

I have the NP8170 with the stock glossy screen, and I have to say it's definitely above average compared to other notebook screens out there.

The trackpad is good-sized and fairly responsive, and the multitouch gestures are excellent. However, due to the aggressive horizontal metal brushing that Clevo has done on it, it feels rather choppy moving your fingers vertically across the trackpad. Horizontal panning is smooth as ever, though.

    Hope you enjoy your Sager!

I did a small mod where i placed a mobile phone screen protector over the touchpad and it still works flawlessly only a lot smoother. :)

A few of the games I've beaten, using only the P170HM's touchpad:

    Alpha Protocol
    Borderlands
    Crysis
    Crysis Warhead
    Dead Space
    Dragon Age
    Dragon Age 2
    Front Mission Evolved
    Mass Effect
    Mass Effect 2

There's more, but I think you get the point. I have no issue with its use.

Breyl I play Battlefield 3 using that touchpad and I am top of every single match I go into, also I use to Paladin Heal on my old touchpad and was one of the best on my server. It matters not what type of mouse if you get use to how it works.

If I switched to a normal mouse I would fail miserably. I find that I can aim much faster by using my fingertip to aim and the space bar to shoot and my response time is much faster.

How? I don't know.... I just do. Singleplayer games are easy.

Currently playing Skyrim and about to start Alan Wake.

I think it comes down to what you've grown up with, and for me, that was certainly the M+KB. I would argue that the ability to make twitch movements, accuracy, and sensitivity is far better with a mouse than a trackpad, but that would be a moot argument.

In fact, I'm one of those people who swears by having an extra button or two on the mouse for added features.

I remember those days how much I wanted to try playing counter strike with a touch screen....

Yiddo and Kevin this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you!

I as well (when I played WoW) was a Holy and Disc priest and did ALL heals on trackpad. I was using a mac at the time and have since retired that awful piece of crap for the money machine!

The main game I will be playing is swtor and WoW when Mists of Pandora comes out so hearing that the pad is good enough for these style MMO's is perfect!!

    Thanks all for your replies!!!
