Following up on my dearly departed M570RU-U, I was informed by a computer guy that my motherboard is dead.

I now need to find a barebone replacement to be back in working order. Is there any M570RU/TU/ETU or any other WUXGA barebone I could find somewhere for AT MOST 500 bucks?

Additionally, would my existing parts work in a barebone, and to what extent would I have to fiddle with BIOS to get everything in great working order?

Finally, do I need Thermal Paste if I'm swapping my processor and GPU into a new body?

Hypersonic PC Aviator SR7 17" Barebone Gaming Notebook with Nvidia 8700M GT Graphics at SVC.com

I bought the 8800m GTX version they have (2 of them - one to sell) and it is a M570RU. I'm sure this one linked is also a M570RU, just with a lesser GPU.

Good luck! Let me know if/how this works out for you.

Yep, that looks like an M570RU, all your bits would go in there fine and yes, you would need thermal paste.

Thanks Motorius, I was actually looking at that particular model, I'd followed your old thread. I won't be suffering too much from the lack of an 8800 as the 9800m GTS my laptop had seems to be working fine (from the occasions I got the laptop working). I can start transferring pieces once I get the barebone.

And thank you, Theriko, it is reassuring to get an input from you. Any recommendations as to what Thermal Paste to use?

    Thanks!

I would normally recommend either arctic cooling MX-2 or MX-3, although I've just swapped to CoolLaboratory Liquid Ultra and it does seem rather good (and very easy to apply)
