    first:

Is it bad for the battery to set it to charge when it isnt below 50%?

I started playing Crysis and connected y battery but it was at like 88% or so...normally i dont connect to charger unless its under 50% but this time I did cause the game runs better on power.

    And then my second question:

Is it okay that I normally set the computer to charge once the computer warns me that the battery is at critical level (10%)?

As I said, I dont charge till under 50%... if I am at like 80%, I play the Aion beta. I get caught up with the game and end up hearing the computer doing the chime warning of critical battery...then I put it to charge... is this okay?

    Thanks

    1. It doesn't matter as long as you can give it a recharge time when under 50%

    2. As long as the battery doesn't fully run out, it's fine. Lithium batteries life is actually shortened if it was fully discharged. When you first got your computer, you should have it fully charged for hours (recommended 12-14 hours). No biggie.

On my old laptops, I used to accidentally turn off the power strip on my wall at night while my laptop was still running. For dozens of nights I did this and my battery was fully discharged for several hours before waking up in the morning to find it dead. What was the effect of this? My six year old D400V battery still has over 80% of it's initial capacity and my four year old M38AW battery still has 90% of it's initial capacity.

My M570TU battery stays plugged in all the time unless it is off, or if I am using my laptop on my lap, or if I am going to a coffee shop to type, in which lately hasn't been happening often. Despite this, the battery still has over 98% of it's initial capacity.

The infrequency of cycles is what will primarily kill a battery, not at what remaining capacity the battery is discharged to before being recharged.

I condition my bigger batteries such as my laptop batteries and my UPS batteries once a month. I condition my smaller batteries such as my flashlight batteries, iPod batteries, and cell phone batteries once every two months. This is done by fully draining the battery to 0% before recharging it back to 100%.
