Hi all, I need help with setting up a slave drive on my notebook. I ordered a 3rd 160 gig 7200rpm drive to add to my system as a slave.

I cannot get the drive to show up n Windows XP for some reason. It shows the drive in the bios as a non raid, so I know it is working. I did not set any jumpers, acording to Seagate you dont need to. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Not positive but maybe it needs a driver or something like that. I seem to remember something with ACHI in the bois and XP not liking the SATA drives. But I would think it was there already. It might be a different driver since it is not part of the RAID.?? Just a thought.

Since that is a brand new drive you need to format it first and assign a drive letter before it becomes visible. Right now it is simply a bunch of unallocated space. Here's how:
    1. Right-click My Computer and click Manage
    2. In the left-hand pane click Disk Management and then you will see all of your drives.
    3. Right click the new drive (you'll know which one it is) and click "Format". You take it from there.
