I have a video review of my previous P870DM-G which had a 980M SLI config in it. See
    Clevo P870DM-G Review

Do you want me to make a video review of my current Sky X9 with the desktop 980 GTX?

Sweet reviews and very detailed. I'm looking to go that route but not as detailed. I just want the basic buy experience with how service was to longevity and warranty, yeah all that good stufg.

Now one good question is do you know if you can open the clevo build? Will it and what can cause you to lose warranty?

Yea, i went through a lot of threads here, regarding the WiFi module and since a lot of my work needs linux as well, i decided to go the Intel Way. As for the GTX 980, i was originally considering the 980M, but in the end just decided get something which would help with my rendering work. And the dfference between the 980 and 980M seems to be rather big.

Thank you for the links, definitely gonna come in handy..!

    Update!! HIDevolution

After a long last day or two heading out to LA to get my machine and from staying out almost all night and day in pismo I'm beat but I wanted to let everyone know I'm home and had the honor to meet Ted and check out the company as well as walk out with my laptop and drive home but of course I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I'm currently working to show it off to you all which everything is going great right now no complaints. I'm going to get some sleep and get to guys soon on everything! Pictures and video and if any questions for anyone let me know.

Like I've said since the start I'm just trying to help future buyers so they didn't struggle to find a reseller like I did and know for sure what that are getting into as most unbiased as possible so I hope I deliver. Thanks again everyone!

Is opening the device going to cause warranty void? I believe it doesn't from when I asked they said no.

    Just asking from your experience.

nope, you can open ANYTHING just like Alienware, as long as you don't physically damage it, it's fine.

Delidding your CPU will void the warranty so don't if you are concerned about that.

Also, damage from static electricity will void your warranty as one might have not taken the necessary precautions, take off your socks as they hold the static electricity in your body, place your feet on the ground at all times, put an anti-static wrist band if available and connect it to the chassis especially if you will be touching components like the CPU, m.2 SSDs, or RAM

I open my laptop almost every other day and re-paste the thermal paste on the CPU trying to figure out the best cooling.

thanks for the info and your feedback there i appreciate it.
Im not sure your age or anything but im 26 and have been working with computers since 15 years old building and all. hardware to software issues and just all kinds of stuff.
I love to learn things i dont know yet and learn from everyone so i thank you again for your input.

Im using the laptop right now and just testing games and doing some basic benchmarks here and there. everything seems real well so far.
No dead pixels. No issues yet after 3 or so days of use.
Last night i ran it all night long playing some games here and there nothing too demanding.

I have yet to take off the plastic protection lol. im hoping to get the video review going mind you i rather not do the video review on the same phone i just took these pictures with because the camera is cracked and the phone is nothing special especially camera wise.

Tonight after the days of use im going to aim to get a little video review of the inside. ill be fully prepared to handle the components in a safe manner by tonight,

Any lurkers looking for answers on anything please let me know maybe i can offer insight on anything with HIDEVOLUTION.

Also let me elaborate for everyone here.

I drove to LA to pick up the laptop. My experience was amazing and wow the office they got is amazing, my kind of business. After my visit i felt more reassured that i was being taken care of to a full extent and although my stay was short employees working there were hard at work and just to see that was amazing and i couldnt imagine others that may or may not have had problems with this company.

I have yet to use warranty for any issues so if the time arises and i do ill keep everyone updated.

Thanks again for everyone tuning in. any request to anything like i said before id be willing to try something.

Packaging for one has far improved i must say because i looked on youtube for a unboxing video for a laptop that was ordered from hidev and it was an embarrassment to the company and the company they shipped with but least to say the latptop was in good condition in that 6year old video.

my packaging was perfect and of course i picked it up....the boxing design has improved by far the best and i had enough confidence to carry it with the box handle.

Man, now i cant wait for mine to be delivered later next week.
Congrats on the system. Seems like my order is in good hands, from what you are saying about their office.
Did you order the system with stock BIOS or the Prema?

    Thank you for your updates!!

yeah real good group of people from the people i seen i was only in front office but man was it a wonderful drive lol.
Besides everything i have been very pleased and my whole point was to give people a better insight on orders with resellers. something they could relate to.

Let me know when you get your machine :)

Hey guys! Havent had time lateley since school and work and getting settled in the new place and the sweet laptop I got from Hidev.
So far last 2 days I noticed that the hotkey has crashed on an update. dealing with that at the moment. Contacted Hidev for any insight.

All the research ive done points towards win 7 issues and that i need win 10 which im not sure is accurate or not but id hope not considering i ran with win7 and wasnt informed just thought it would be a helpful heads up if thats the case.

As of now everything else is amazing and the laptop and company is going in the books for a sweet company with all my expectations have been met. also after an email not too long ago i still got a response this late and on the weekend lol. perfect!

cherry on top was my phone cameras cracked. hoping to replace soon so i can get decent quality pictures of the laptop.

Ifixit.com for the phone, hopefully it's an easy to model to work on.

Have you simply tried re-installing hotkey?

For Windows 7, this is the Control Center you need, uninstall the old one then reboot. Then install this one and reboot:

In addition to the free upgrade to the Prema VBIOS, HIDevolution are now offering free upgrades for the Prema VBIOS as well for all the latest nVIDIA GPUs. Very generous I must say and they are leading the resellers game with the way they are operating:

I dont know where you found this exactly but i did find a file i pulled from the clevo website that wasnt from my particualr build and installed it. and it worked. it was the filei you mentioned above. THanks for the help. Now with this premabios is it worth getting? what would be the difference from my original bios installed? is this something I could do on my own?

when in control panel for programs the only option was to uninstall and not having a place to download it from made that difficult but ive got it going now. thank you for the help.

Glad you had such a wonderful experience with HIDevolution! I recently purchased a 770DM-G and actually hadn't even included HIDevolution in my comparisons. Thought I had looked through everyone. Guess I didn't.

I purchased mine through Mythlogic, and they are indeed more expensive than other resellers. The difference is not monumental, but 150 bucks is still 150 bucks. I totally understand that.

With Mythlogic you definitely get a little more than the standard reseller with regards to benchmarking and setup. They provide extensive benchmarking and testing of your laptop before shipping and send all the results with the laptop. They make sure this thing is game ready with all the updates it could possibly need already installed. They also come stock with an upgraded BIOS, though off the top of my head I'm not sure it is a Prema bios version or not. This isn't a knock on other resellers. Mythlogic just offers a bit more, and you pay for it. They are less a reseller and more a custom builder. If you want that, its worth it.

    Things to know about Mythlogic.

    1) Great team who do great work and produce a great product.
    2) Great work takes time. Takes about 2 weeks from payment accepted to completion. Company is on east coast
    3) If you accept the price and the time investment you will not be disappointed. Fantastic company. Can't say enough good things.

Not doing any bashing here as well but I did extensive research before my purchase and just would like you to clarify what "extensive benchmarks and testing" your laptop is going through that in comparisons to others wasn't to your par? I mean I do like the fact that you are getting copies of the benchmarks they performed and numbers that's one thing Hidev did not provide but they did do benchmarks and extensive testing of the machine as well.

What i did run into was some of the upgrades that i wanted with my laptop and i did get the exact model your getting just from Hidev was a little more pricey with the Myth logic with the exception that i believe it was ram and the OS that myth offerred cheaper or vice versa.
Like i said no bashing Im curious because I did months of research before my purchase and landed on a thin line of some companies to choose on and myth was not one of them.

Pretty much my thoughts as well, the only thing that i dont understand is the 3 weeks build time. I mean upto 2 week is definitely understandable , but none of the benchmarks or testing take more than 2 days , at most 3. You get the exact same things with other sellers as well. HIDEvolution built, tested and delivered my system in around 7 business days.
Please dont get me wrong, i dont have anything against Mythlogic, but dont really have anything going for them specially based on their turn around time and the lack of communication, i mean i had to wait 2 days just to get a reply about my purchase query.
Plus they are not even ready to price match. I got an instant price match from HIDEvolution, even Sager was ready to price match. All in all since other sellers are now offering what gave them the slight edge, its doesnt really make sense in going with them anymore.
Again my main point in question is their lack of communication once the order is placed. Its the same story everywhere.

Agreed with bloodhawk here. I recently cancelled my order with Mythlogic. Now I'm waiting for a refund - I opened a Paypal case for this since it shouldn't take this long for a refund. My biggest concern with Mythlogic is communication. Should I require warranty, how will that be handled? Communication is already difficult with pre-order and refund request :(

My experience with HIDevolution is pretty good so far. With regards to communication, expect a response within 24 hours. Ted tends to respond to my email during the evening CST time - but that's okay (it's within 24 hours). It's better than waiting for days or no response at all. I was on a chat session with Vivian for 20 minutes today - after the 6 minute mark, she seemed to have disappeared. So I left after the 20 minutes mark and reopened chat again. She came into the chat session, apologized for the delay, and we continued talking about the order - good recovery/apology accepted.

No company is perfect, but there are companies who handle communication and other things better than others. For this particular order, I'm happy with HIDevolution so far.

Lol thats happened to me over the phone, i was on hold for 30 mins. Apparently they had a server crisis or something. But someone else gave a call a few hours later to answer my questions. So all good. Luckily was doing something else with my headphones plugged into the phone so didn't quite notice how long i was on hold for haha.

Riiiiiiiight, that's why 90% of the problems experienced by members here with their machines have been built by Mythlogic heh?

Latest example is a member called firebat, he got his system, showed us a few pics of how nice and beautiful it is, then within a few days it was going back to Mythlogic for overheating problems and a buggy Killre AC1535 WLAN card that keeps disconnecting right and left, then he was without his machine for 2 weeks. He then got it back and they promised they stress tested the machine @ 4.5 GHz and sent it. Surprise, he still had issues with it.

Not trying to badmouth any re-seller here, just stating facts. I wouldn't own a Mythlogic machine even if they paid me. Their employees are the most arrogant and rudest I have ever spoken to.

Well I don't know what to say. I had a good experience with them. All I can say is I'm sorry you had bad experiences. I guess it's good to get input from both good and bad. It really allows people to make the best informed decision.

Look, I really have no dog in this fight. I wandered around for quite a while looking at possible companies. Even looked at powernotebooks.com, until that one week I saw that whole bankrupt scandal thing. Did I examine every single company? Aw heck no. But I tried.

All I can describe is what pulled me to Mythlogic in the first place. I'll be as honest as possible. All Clevo/Sager resellers pretty much have the same price +/- 100$ give or take. So it really wasn't price that was a driving factor with any of the companies.

Really what got me interested in Mythlogic was their statements about testing and benchmarking of the systems.

Some have said that all companies do this. That's certainly possible, even very likely. I can't deny that.

However, Mythlogic is very upfront on their website about all the things they will test and do to ensure a quality running system. As a computer layman, especially compared to most here on these forums, that appealed to me. Most websites mention nothing about the testing that is done on a system. Do some talk about it? Maybe. I just noticed that many don't. Is this a "good" reason to pick mythlogic? For me, it was. I enjoyed the idea of extensive testing that would help guarantee a working system. Again, do other companies do this as well? If they do, they don't make a point of pointing it out. Perhaps they should.

My communication with them has been pleasant and courteous. I've had no problems.

My system arrived in perfect working order and has had no issues, so I can not speak to the RMA process or the like.

That's all I got. Just one persons opinion. They did right by me.

Awesome bro, I am really happy that your system works. To be honest with you, I like the logo / branding of Mythlogic the most. Unfortunately I got the bad lazy salesman when I called and I saw enough here to stop me from going forward. Please let us know if you need any help with your system. After all, we are all riding on the P870DM bandwagon.

I dont need your approval or need authentication of my purchase or all the work i did. I have a worthy experience of buying my first laptop and thats good enough for me. As much as i would of liked a video and unboxing i didnt have the resources to do it so im not sweating it for your benefit. Ive logged enough here of my journey to buying my laptop thank you.
