I think we should make a thread regarding the MXMII graphics upgrade possibility. Ice-Tea first posted pictures and information regarding this in a post that another member made. That was a couple of months back, have there been any updates? We should keep track of it for all of those such as myself who are very much interested in the possibility of upgrading their graphics cards. Then again if this has all been de-bunked and in all of my forum searching I missed something then please go ahead and delete the thread :D

I do not think that you can upgrade to a better MXMII card at the moment.

Only 8600M GT is the best MXMII card at the moment.

It was just a supposition, not based on current reality. Theoretically it can be done, but there will be a need for a redesigned cooling system and so on...

Only if it has DDR3...the 2090 would be my 15 in notebook of choice if it didn't have DDR2

ddr3 to ddr2 is not very significant (only marginal)... mainly OC properties are better.

Can someone explain the DDR2 128 bit limits? I've been hearing a few things about it but never a clear cut reason why DDR2 addressing is worse than the DDR3 addressing when it comes to 512MB memory on the card.

The 512MB of memory is largely irrelevant because the 8600's 128-bit bus and the GPU just can't utilize all of it to an extent to produce playable framerates. The primary concern regarding GDDR3 is that it inherently runs cooler, and therefore, can sustain much higher (nearly double) stock memory clocks.

So how much is wasted of the 512MB onboard?

its not wasted... its how much the particular game or application will store its graphic representations (like textures) on it.

Some games like GRAW will detect the video memory amount in order to unlock resolutions and graphic options... 512mb is required to unlock good resolutions.
