I bought a 2090 with the 15.4 1280x800 (the lower of the two offered resolutions) back in early August. The last two weeks however i started having trouble getting the display to stay on when i open the lid after having it closed for a few minutes or more.

I found that if i unplug the laptop and open the lid, then close it and plug it back in then open it again after a few times of doing this it will stay on.

What i mean by stay on is that when i open it, the display will come on for a few seconds and shutoff. Hitting keys and moving the mouse and hitting the power button, basically pressing every damn button on it wont turn the display back on.

I've never had it just shut off unexpectedly and the display shut's off just fine when i close it and will come back on just fine when i immediatly open it back up.

It doesn't seem to be any problem with the switch because as i said before it will come on and off when i open the lid and close it, it's just after i let it sit for a while it will take some messing with to get it to stay on.

My power settings are plugged in, nothing ever shuts off and on batteries its, Turn off monitor after 5 min. and Turn off disk's after 10 min. and no standby.

Im also running XP 32 bit. and i've changed driver's between the new bioshock ones (they suck big time for me) and the newest from laptopvideo2go.com a couple times.

Sorry for the long post and i hope i gave you all the info you needed.

    Thanks

Hi, same problem here, also in XP. I contacted Sager Support and we did some testing in BIOS mode and XP VGA mode to discard a faulty LCD lid. It's a driver problem, I got it somehow solved configuring StandBy when closing the lid, so when I open it again it activates again and I get my LCD on.
I will probably will go for Vista again..too many details like this on XP.
If you get to a better solution please post it.

My display i'm assuming is the wxga. I bought the one with the lower capable resolution the 1280x800 the other one was 16**xsomething. I'm glad im not the only one, not happy other's have to deal with it but you know what i mean.

ToR- Can you explain what you did with the standby? i tried making it going to standby when i close the lid after you said that but when i open it again (making sure it's in standby for a little bit) it doesn't come back on. It doesn't even flash on for a few seconds like it does without standby.

I tried searching google for a fix but i dont know any of the tricks to searching so i didn't come up with anything. Not even another post somewhere about the same thing.

Like i said before, the trick i've found to work is to close the lid and either plug it in or unplug it then let it sit for a few seconds then open it and if it doesn't work, then i'll close it again and unplug it or plug it back in and keep doing this until it works. Takes about 2 or 3 tries to get this to work.

In my last post i said that this only happens after the lid is closed for a little bit. This isn't true anymore, as soon as i close the lid it act's up again, making me go through all that crap to get it to stay on.

I love this laptop, it plays my bioshock flawlessly but this pisses me off. Thanks for the reply's, i'm still messing with it so maybe with some luck i'll figure this out. :D

    Mine is WSXGA+.
I believe you should press the power button to recover from StandBy...don't remember exactly tough, I am out of town this week so I cannot check.
That worked only for closing the lid, when LCD turns off because of idle time there's nothing to do. That's where the ScreenSaver is needed.

I'm using windows vista ultimate and when i close my lid, it goes into sleep mode and after that no matter which i button i press the display doesnt come back on. I had to do a hard shut down and then power it up again to make it work. So i changed the settings to leave the display on after closing the lid. Later I tried putting the laptop into sleep mode by pressing the power button once. It did go into sleep mode but again i couldnt get the display to come back no matter what button i pressed. Does anyone have a similar problem? Could this be a bios issue?

I used to have the same problem on XP with the laptop screen refusing to stay on after closing the lid.
After some googling around, I found out that it's an XP bug and after installing the KB923232 hotfix everything worked perfectly. I'm not sure if we're in the same situation, but thats what I did and it worked for me.

did anyone try the KB923232 hotfix? I would but I cannot find the pacth for my XP language (spanish)...

    Edit:
Well, I googled around and find the patch for my OS version....guess what: IT'S FIXED.
I downloaded the INTEL (Intel downloadcenter) patch which included the MS hotfix for all languages..ty it out, it should work.
Aparently is a known issue for XP and multicore intel processors.
    Good luck!
