    I have a Sager 2090 with the SWUXGA screen( 1680 x 1050).

I bought a 22" Samsung 226bw yesterday that has the same native resolution.

The problem is when I connect it to my laptop, no matter how I set it up, I cannot get it to get a higher resolution than 1280 x 1024, which looks really bad.

I'm running windows Vista Ultimate 64bit, and have the latest video drivers off the sager website.

    Here are the scenarios

    1. No external monito, Laptop LCD runs at 1680 x 1050
    2. External setup so that both have the same output with laptop lcd as main monitor- both run at 1280 x 1024
    3. External setup so that it is the only monitor - laptop lcd off (as expected) and samsung monitor runs at 1280 x 1024
    4. Extended desktop to the samsang with samsung as primary or laptop as primary. Laptop will run at 1680 x 1050 but samsung still will only run at 1280 x 1024.

I installed the drivers for the monitor as well.

I called sager support and they were not really too helpfull on this one. They could not confirm if it should work or not.

Is this just an issue with this monitor or is this a limitation of the external vga connector on the laptop? Or a issue with the vista 64bit drivers?

    Thanks

I've hooked up my 2090 to my Dell 20.1" WSXGA+ monitor through the VGA port and it works fine. I'm on Windows XP and when I want to display the laptop on the monitor itself, I have to press FN/F3 twice; the first time doesn't turn off the laptop monitor, but it does display the laptop on the monitor, but doesn't look sharp; the second time makes it proper and the laptop's contents are displayed perfectly on the screen.

I can't say I know what the issue is with your laptop exactly, but I can tell you that displaying WSXGA+ on a WSXGA+ monitor is doable. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you! :(

    Well i figured out.

I have a belki KVM, and it turns out that it was stopping the full res from being displayed.
