I got the 2090 with T7300 CPU, 1GB 667MHz ram. I added another 1GB stick but I forgot why I didn't go 800MHz... vaguely remember some reason but can't remember. Ram prices have come down recently and I was wondering if anyone upgraded to 800MHz? Notice any difference? How about 2 to 4GB in Vista 64bit?

the motherboard in the 2090 is limited to a max of 667mhz. Therefore if you are running 2 or 4 gigs in DDR2 and you check the clocks you will see it register at ~333mhz. I am running 4 gigs in 64bit and I can tell a big difference from my buddy at work who is running only 2 gigs in his 32bit system. Boot times and overall application loading is a quite noticeable.

Dang... that's why its 667.... what a shame as I checked the T7300 specs. Thx for the info tho. I'm starting to feel really sluggish on mine & I'll get on the next 4GB deal.

BTW, does the 9-cell battery cause any problems with your WaterField stuff?

I don't think the BIOS will allow FSB modification. Correct me if I'm wrong, however, but wouldn't CPU overclocking be the primary concern for getting 800 MHz RAM?

Maybe, but I wasn't trying to overclock. It's just that the T7300 supports 800mhz fsb and they didn't pair a mobo that can take advantage of it. That was kind of the whole point of the Santa Rosa T7300 release. (unless if you buy into the "centrino" idea of marketting the cpu and wifi card together)

Not at all. They have a bunch of different size sleeves so it's pretty much tailored to the notebook you have. Then if you get one of the bags the sleeve just sits in it.

Im not positive on this but i think one of the only notebook mobos out right now that can run 800mhz is the 9262, i'd have to look it up again, but that seems right to me.

The Crestline (Intel 965 chipset) and Santa Rosa platform supports a processor FSB of 800MHz and memory speed of 667MHz. For details see: http://www.intel.com/products/centrino/compare.htm
