is it really worth taking a hit in CPU performance, half the ram, not getting an OS, and cutting an hour off the battery life, and paying about $370 more just for a 9800GT compared to a 9600GT GDDR2 in your opinion?
i really really want to be able to play new games at high settings, but honestly, games are going to make up maybe 5-10% of the time i use my laptop and im having a hard time selling myself on the specs i could get otherwise.
it seems like the m860tu is great if you have the dough for the equivalent specs of the 2096 + the 9800GT, but i dont. to do that would put me at about $2100 which is definitely out of my ballpark.
thoughts?

I'm actually kinda interested in this as well. The only thing missing from the 2096 is DDR3 RAM and the 9800 GT/GTS options but is it really worth the $500-600 for someone who isn't really a PC gamer? I mean I'd like to play a couple of games here and there but I mostly play my 360 so I don't think I am in dire need of a top notch video card like the 9800m GT.

don't pay attention to what that guy said, a 5 years kid know more than he does.
@vestibule1443, the different of 2.53 and 2.4 will be nearly unnoticeable. 2GB RAM is enough for everyday use, useless you will be running something like 5000x5000 in photoshop. about the OS, you can always get one from your college or company for cheap. -
So you're just paying more for the newer DDR3 RAM, GPU, and better CPU...
-
actually the clevo chassis should be better than compal's as well.

It's simple, if you don't want to play games at mid to high settings, then get the cheaper setup.

Hi folks,
I was just looking at the 2 laptops, Sager NP2096 and Sager NP8660 and I noticed the Exhaust Vents are different ...
Q1: Which is better to have the Heat Exhuast vents on the back of the laptop or to the Side?
- I mean which one will be more efficient?
- Also, exhausting to the side ... wouldn't that be an inconvenience?
Q2: Where does the Battery go in Sager 8660? Does it snap in the side?
Q3: Sager 2096 where are the Speakers located?
Q4: What do you guys think of the layout of the USBs on 2096? Aren't they located in bad spot?
Q5: Isn't strange that back of Sager 2096 is totally dedicated to the Battery ... none of the connections go in the back!?!?
Thanks,
G! -

1. Id say side for general use as you can use it on your lap/less ideal surfaces when not gaming. For gaming Id thing bottom as a cooler would be more effective.
2. Yes its on the side.
3. Looks like above the keyboard but hard to tell
4. Yeah they arent in the greatest of spots. didn't like the decision.
5. A bit, it was probably easier to do that and put inputs on the side rather than squeeze on the back.
