Is there anyone who has any experience with connecting a 30 inch display to the 9262 with 8800gtx.

To get the 2560x1600 resolution you have to have a dual link dvi and i dont think the 9262 have that. Or does it?

But the 1730 with the same vga card has dual link. Don't all 8800 gtx come with dual link dvi?

In short, I'm about to buy a 30" display. Will I bee able to use it at max resolution (2560x1600) with my 9262?

No, not all notebooks with high-end graphics cards have dual-link.

In fact, only a handful of notebooks were designed to have Dual-Link DVI integrated as a port.

The only Clevo notebook to have Dual-Link DVI is the M570RU (aka. Sager 579x)... and probably the upcoming M570TU.

The D900C should have gotten a Dual-Link DVI port IMO, but Clevo did not add that feature to it... time crunch for release, design issues... who knows.

Ok.. So even though my vga card support a resolution up to 2560x1600 i can't use it because of my dvi port? :(

Is there any way to change this.. Can I take apart the laptop and attach a new cable and port to the vga? (Or some other crazy idea.. :))

sorry you cannot change the port.

The Dual-Link DVI must be a part of the notebook design from the beginning.

So the D900C (Sager 9262) can only handle up to 1920x1200 resolution when using external displays.

Hopefully Clevo might do a refresh model, like they did with the M570RU, and add HDMI, e-SATA, & Dual Link DVI.... but I would not hold my breath.

^ I've just got a mail from PCMW and they say that my XR5 supports dual link and it will will work out just fine.

I really hope that they are right. Strange.. You seem to know what you're talking about..

..Is it because i have the d901c and not the d900c??

    They are the same notebook.

    D900C = blue chassis
    D901C = black chassis

Interesting that they said that.... tell us if you can confirm it. :)

"The most advanced notebook in the world" but without HDMI, e-SATA, & Dual Link DVI.. annoying..

HDMI, e-SATA, etc... are still rare even in desktops.

The next gen of notebooks are being designed with them.... like the upcoming Clevo notebooks.

Dual DVI is pretty useless on the RU since the 8800M GTX cannot play games at 2560x1600(or whatever) unless they`re older than 2004...

    ^^ :) games, games, games.. :)

I use my 901 primeraly to edit movies and CAD modelling. A 30" display makes it sooo much nicer to use premiere pro. I have a 26" display now and use that together with the laptop display. I could still need some more space :)

I guess there are people with the RU that want to use it for other than gaming :)

I just talked with Donald at PowerNotebooks because I had the same question. He indicated that the Sager 9262 does have dual dvi support and will support the 30 inch display.

^^ I'm going to bring my laptop down to a local store and test it. Not today but soon.. I guess if Donald says it will work then it should work. But it strange that they don't have that information on any website..

EDIT: a website of a Clevo reseller in sweden: "dvi port, supports dual link dvi" That sounds a little strange.. why don't they just say dual dvi. Like the 1730. Why use "supports"

Well, there was also a guy from Sager on the line when I was talking with Donald and he agreed that the 9262 supported dual dvi. If you want specific confirmation for your system, I would suggest calling the place you bought it from so they could check the serial number and validate it - unless the vendor would confirm that the whole series of 9260-9262 supports dual dvi. The 30 inch monitor is expensive enough that you should confirm one way or the other if you have an absolute requirement for it to work with your laptop.

A guy named Gunne is running that store. Extremly friendly and helpfull. When i decided to buy from the US instead, cause the dollar is so low, he just told me to ask if i needed any help with my notebook. Support without beeing a customer! That is what i call service :)

I might be wrong but i don't think dual VIEW is the same thing as dual LINK. Dual link is the increased bandwidth that makes it possible to use a 2560x1600 resolution.

(But perhaps you have to have dual link to use dual view. I don't know)

Anyway i've checked now and the 9262 has a dvi-d port and that works just fine with a 30" display at 2560X1600 :)

    Correct.

Dual View is a multiple monitor option in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Dual-Link DVI is the ability to support WQXGA monitors.

^ I thought there would be more people here with wqxga screens.. I mean, most of the people here are spending 4000$ on a laptop! Perhaps that is the answer.. No money left :)

Hi, this is my first post on these forums but I've been a lurker for awhile.

I can also confirm, the DVI port on the D901c is Dual Link. I have hooked it up to my Dell 3007WFP-HC 30" @ 2560x1600 and it worked w/o a hitch. I haven't tested any games on my laptop @ that resolution however.

I'll have time to test games on my 30" next week. I can post avg FPS then if anyone is interested.

Guys, I wrote this same question to Justin at Xotic and he said both the machines can drive a 30" monitor at full resolution also.
