    Hi guys was reviewing my old build on Kobalt computers when I came across the 3D-Screen option!

    Kobalt Systems - NVIDIA 3D Vision PCs

    Now im sure this is old news to most of your guys, and there may already be a thread about this some were but I did check and couldn't see one in the last couple of pages.

    What do you guys make of it, anyone got one or seen it in action ?

    And how hard would it be to source one cost wise, and fit it ? As it seems to come on the NP8690 chassis.

    Would appreciate it if you guys in the know would give me a heads up. TY

    I saw it in action during the computex.

    The demo they had were working nicely, but you need to consider that:
    no movie in 3d available in dvd or blue ray yet
    the screen resolution is very low (even if in 3d mode it looks surprisingly sharp) so for normal work is not so good.
    a lot of game have issues with 3D currently because a lot of effects in the game are not real 3D but tricks that work well only if you use 2D to display a 3D world

    but if you buy this computer only for gaming i guess the 3d can be considered

    ps: some people will feel uncomfortable with the 3D, i was fine but my coworker had headache after 3 minutes of use.

    I've been thinking lately and isnt SLI the perfect option for 3D? Each card could render one image and you would have the same fps than you would have in 2D with a single card. So FullHD would pose no big problem. Are there already plans for this option? I think it is a much more efficient use of SLI than current methods since it would offer true 100% performance gain - however, syncing both images would be the problem again, so that would take some performance away...

    AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering) was one of the options in original sli, I don't think it worked too well due to load balancing/syncing issues.

    Problem with Split-Frame rendering is that you can never archieve 100% performance gain. With AFR there is obviously the problem that in the end only one card is rendering at the same card. But if it comes to 3D each card would render it's own image at the same time... the advantage would be that it is not dependent on adapted drivers, SFR is very dependent on that.
