Hi I was wondering if you have a 3D capable card, is it possible to play 3D on a external 120Hz screen plugged into a Sager/Clevo?

Yes it's possible, but the TV/monitor has to be 3D capable. 120hz (non 3D) monitor/TVs will not be able to do 3D.

I have a HD6970 and a Acer 3D 120HZ monitor and the ATI drivers dont recognize the monitor at anything other than 60hz. THe monitor is Nvidia 3D certified but doesnt work period [3D wise] with the ATI card. Perhaps a newer monitor might work.

I guess Nvidia 3D is a little more mature. Great news though-- I might get a 120Hz screen then.

Just be aware that 3D will cut your performance 50% as it's rendering 2x more than normal. For a lot of games it's not a big deal, but it may mean cranking down settings in some.

The 485m works great with my external 120hz Acer 3D certified monitor, so Nvidia cards in general work great. It's hooked up via DVI though, which is the only way I can get the 120hz (the HDMI input on it is 1.3, which is not able to do 3D).

Yea, I'll probably play it only with games that already have high FPS.

Does anyone know or try to use HDMI 1.4 for 3D? How is the output?
