    So heres my problem,
I have always used 3dmark06 for benching, and no have no idea what a good score is for 3DMark Vantage (the new tool).

my latest 3dmark score is 9772, so how would they compare to a vantage score?

I hear I should really use vantage because its a mroe accurate test, and tests newer shader models ect, and I am thinking now that I installed Win7 I should really make the switch.....

    Please advise.

it would be better to compare vantage vs vantage. The two benchmarks (3dmark and vantage) are different enough that trying to compare them is silly.

Wait, the 9772 is a 3dmark06 or 3dmark vantage score?

Also, Vantage is better because 3dmark06 is CPU dependent so it's not that accurate to evaluate pure graphics performance. Vantage however is less CPU bound so it's more accurate at determining GPU strength than 3dmark06.

As Darth Bane said, just run the benchmarks and you can compare with other users who have run the same benchmark

No the 9772 is my 3dmark 06 score. I haven't tried vatange yet, i'd rather not have them both installed tbh, thats why I want to know what a 9772 translates to in vantage, because if I run vantage now I'll have no way to assess how that compares to my 9772 score ya know? like what is a good score for my specs (below) with vantage?...but maybe I'll just do it.

As we've told you, it doesn't translate. 3dmark06 can vary greatly from machine to machine due to the fact that it's CPU dependent. On the other hand, 3dmark Vantage is less CPU dependent so your score is supposed to vary in minor fashion(compared to 06 at least) from machine to machine as long as the machines are using the same GPU.

Therefore, you could get a similar score to a guy with the same GPU, but a CPU twice as powerful or twice as weak, something which didnt occur in 3dmark06.

This isn't like translating mph to km/h... Each benchmark tests different things(3dmark06 tests your system as a whole more than Vantage which mostly tries to concentrate on your graphics).

Alright - so basically they are two totally seperate benchmarks. Thanks I guess i'll just go with both then.

    Thanks for this.

just to give you an idea of roughly what the scores should be 3dmark06 is on left and vantage performance is on right.
as mentioned above 06 was the benchmarkers tool but its more vantage now.

Vantage is extremely GPU heavy while 06 is extremely CPU heavy. I scored over 20k cpu on vantage, but my overall score was only 12,079 because of a 10k gpu score.

thats most prob cos you got Phys-x turned on. try it again with it turned off in nvidia control panel.
