Hey guys - just wanted to bounce this off a few people as I've been working on this as of late and am a bit stumped at the moment.

Ive been playing with some over volted vbios for my 7970m lately which has been a lot of fun, and the results have been impressive.

My true stock vbios has my card running at 0.975 v. When I run that vbios, I never get any type of throttling. When I run a vbios that finally allows me to run 1.05 v I start to see throttling when I get to the combined CPU/GPU physics test. At 1.05 v the highest useage I see is 86%. I have tried a 1.075 v vbios and see similar results. I will say that oddly, throttlestop has made my scores and throttling a little less severe so I'm starting to wonder if Im no longer looking at throtting due to power issues, but due to being bottlenecked by the CPU?

Just wanted to see if someone else knew, or if someone else had similar experiences to share.

Here is my lastest and best 3DMark11 score....

A kilowatt meter at the wall would let you observe the true total loading of the system.

Your cpu might be holding the gpu back in the combined test.
